What is the policy on Childminders who do not work Bank Holidays? Do you charge full or half fee?

I don't charge at all as i'm not prepared to work it!
I charge full fees for parents holidays, illness etc and no fee for my holidays, illness etc.

Have had some lovely parents in the past who have paid for BH even though i don't charge for it. They said they get paid for it so thought that i should too!

I don't charge because I don't want to work but I do charge slightly more per hour in my area as I offer term time only contracts and don't charge a retainer for the hols as I am available on my terms and feel if I charge for bhols and other hols then I should be available.
But as you are self employed you can decide what you want to charge for and the parents agree when signing the contract, if they don't agree you can negotiate so both parties are happy.

I was asking because i dont charge for bank hols but if I had to work I would charge an extra £1 per hour.

I am glad to see that I am not the only one who does not charge. Its one of my perks for the parents. I may charge in the future but not at present.

i do charge as all my parents get them paid and would be used to paying me anyways and they dont need me as they are off i dont take all the bank holidays though just selected ones

LisaD1 · 01/01/2010 22:23

I charge 1/2 rate if parents don't use my service (I'm available) and double if they do. I don't charge for any of my holidays.

If I was prepared to work them, then I would charge, but I am not, so I don't.

i am also not available / prepared to work on BH so I don't charge either!

My nursery charged me for the Monday Bank Holiday but they were still closed on that day... the feckers.

My CM charges if it's on a day of the week when she would normally have worked. TBH she deserves the same benefits as the rest of the working population so I don't mind.
