Up until a week ago I only had babies in the summer - I now have 7 5-14yo's.

I am planning to go swimming with them at least 3 times a week - visit the field for a run arround maybe 1/2 a week and 2 trips out (at no cost to the parents) and a visit to the library, is that enough?

There is lots to do at home eg football cricket tennis (if I can buy a net) trampoline etc plus baking/crafts/computer/books

But I don't know if they need more

Where are you and do you have transport?

KatyMac · 28/06/2005 22:03

Rural Norfolk

Sometimes I have transport - and sometimes I will have to hire a minibus

I was going to suggest a trip to the natural history museum but i it would be too far. Have you thought about calling your tourist information adn see if there are any things that you could do with the kids?

Would you do a picnic on the run around that could make it quite fun for all of them.

KatyMac · 28/06/2005 22:10

Yep and my mum has suggested going to hers for a "barbq" but she will cook the sausages inside and we'll just eat them outside.

Unfortunatley the minibus pushes up the cost so much that I think once a week (with the MB) is enough

FT chuldren will get 2 good trips a week
PT (eg 2 days) will get 1

But I hope they aren't disappointed

what about going up the woods to have a walk around. I used to love doing this as a kid, we used to play rounders and would be out for a few hours.

KatyMac · 28/06/2005 22:13

No woods - just fields, but I think there are footpaths (Weavers Walk I think)
That might work

Tire then out and nice and cheap, i like it.

KatyMac · 28/06/2005 22:17

Yep - But I'll have to do it with a buggy with 3 under 5's in....I'll be knackered

OP posts:
JELLYJELLY · 28/06/2005 22:24

Do you have a buggy board? I think i need to get one but dont know how much they are or what to look for?

KatyMac · 28/06/2005 22:27

Nope I have a 4 seater pram and a double buggy (I'm hoping to buy a triple buggy as well)

Do you think the older children could share pushing a single buggy on a trip? or is that mean?

OP posts:
JELLYJELLY · 28/06/2005 22:29

older children being the 12-14 year olds? I think that would be ok. They might even suggest it my 4 year old wants to push the buggy.

KatyMac · 28/06/2005 22:33

So I have 5 weeks of hols

They get
2 trips a week for 2 weeks
3 trips a week for 3 weeks

Plus the field, a walk, the library and up to 5 vists to the swimming pool each week

Is that enough?

OP posts:
JELLYJELLY · 28/06/2005 22:38

yes, that should be enough what about the buggy board, you got one?

KatyMac · 28/06/2005 22:40

Sorry said at 10.27 I hadn't one

OP posts:
JELLYJELLY · 28/06/2005 22:44

KatyMac · 28/06/2005 22:44

Looks like plenty to me. The only possible problem I can see is if your local pool has strict adult/child ratios. Our pool insists on 1 under 5 per adult and 2 between 5-7 per adult. I would love to go in the toddler pool while childminding but they're so strict. It can be so quiet during the day with 2 lifeguards per swimmer.
Don't know about tennis nets but we got a badminton/volleyball set from Tescos for under £7. bargain!

JELLYJELLY · 28/06/2005 23:14

you could get skittles as well for under a fiver in tesco or i got some in elc for 320

Just bought a parachute from ELC (haven't opened box yet so hope it's OK). I try to ensure that I have toys/activities available to older ones that they can help themselves to if I am tied up with younger ones.
