Would anyone (CM, nanny) want this job?

About to decide on schools for September and thinking ahead on childcare.

I work 3 days a week but they're long days. At present both kids are in nursery which works well. For next year, I'd like a nanny or childminder to pick up my older daughter from school (about a mile and a half away), collect my younger daughter from nursery (5 mins away), bring them home and do homework/mind them until 6.30pm.

Given that it's only 3 days a week and only after school hours, would anyone actually want this job? Could it suit a nanny with her own child perhaps?

Interested to hear from nannies or childminders on this topic..

I'm in the same dilemma - I work part time and have both at nursery at the moment and when DS starts school in September I'll need him to be dropped off and picked up from school but nursery is right by work so I'm fine still with the nursery drop off and pick up.. What I've done which might help you too is to have e-mailed all the childminders in our area as a group e-mail and have got an idea of what they will and won't do. CM's decide their own hours as they are self employed and the amount of kids they can have will depend on what ages they are and what your needs are . Also depends on the school - quite a few in my area have kids of their own so tend to do drop offs and pick ups with their own kids.I can't remember the website I got all the details from now - sorry ! but other CM's might help you. If one can't do it, then where I am they have been able to recommend another who might.Good luck !

CM would be awkward unless they were only mindees as other to consider if they were to drop at yours and spend time there woith them

herbgarden - sounds like you're much more organised than me! I think I'm in denial I'll do as you suggest, thanks.

AvadventCalendar - I should clarify that I'd be happy for the kids to be in the CM's house either but the pick-up locations suggest my own house might be easier if you see what I mean (the school is 1.5 miles from home while the nursery is beside the house).

I think the website might be www.childcare.co.uk tis very good. Also contact your local early years team for a list of childminders who collect from school you are wanting

I think it would very much suit a nanny with their own child- or maybe even a childminder

As a nanny im sure many people at the moment would love those type of hours, esp a nanny with thier own child.
Nannyjob.co.uk is a great site to find people as well as local agencys.
Also ask around your childrens nursery and school to see if other parents would be willing to do a share or if they know anyone!

im sure u will find someone soon!
