Not sure whether DH is right or not

Made truffles to give as presents to nursery, childminder, etc. Have also bought a bottle of alcohol for DD's keyworker as well as truffles for all in toddler room.

Am giving truffles to childminder too, but I was also going to give her £20 voucher for the local cinema. DH doesn;t think I should because we pay her. My argument is that we pay the nursery too, but DH says the keyworker doesn't get that money directly.
So, should I get vouchers for childminder or not?

Sorry if I'm rambling, am a bit knackered.
BTW - DD is only with childminder for 6 hours a week, over two days and has only been going to her since the summer.

i think truffles is more than enough tbh

HSMM · 14/12/2009 22:39

I think truffles is more than enough as well (but I'm sure she would love the voucher). I don't get presents from all families (and I don't mind), but personally I prefer it when they get a gift for my DD rather than me, because she sacrifices more than I do.

Welll if you were going to give the voucher it means you can afford it, in which case just give it. No need to analyze it, get into the christmas spirit

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/12/2009 11:21

yes give your cm the voucher

MmeLindt · 15/12/2009 11:24

Give it to her, it will give her a nice treat.

LouLouH · 15/12/2009 11:29

Why don't you compromise and instead of £20 voucher give £10? That way your happy as your giving her it and DH is happy as you've shown that you respect his opinion. Obviosly without giving him full satisfaction

eastmidlandsnightnanny · 15/12/2009 19:21

LoulouH idea sounds a good idea

alternatively could you buy a little gift for the CM own children

thebody · 15/12/2009 19:27

you sound like a really nice person, your dh sounds like the Ginch!!! just joking.. give it to her and enjoy her reaction.. its christmas..

TheWorstWitch · 15/12/2009 19:28

Ok, I'm glad no one has posted saying I'm OTT or being flashy for giving cinema vouchers as well as truffles, so I think I'll get her the voucher.

Thanks everyone

DH has returned home from work, and we have a solution!
We're going to give childminder's two DCs a £10 cinema voucher each to thank them as they tidy up after DD and other mindees every evening.
Childminder will just get champagne truffles but I'm pretty convinced if we had given her the vouchers, she would have just given them to her DCs anyway.

It wasn;t a question of spending money (DH isn't tight), but we just didn't want to be brash and loadsamoney, IYSWIM, especially as her DH has lost his job

I think that's a great solution!

I think giving the vouchers to the children is a fab idea, alot of parents don't realise how much our own children have to sacrifice for minded children, (I'm not moaning, just stating a fact!)
