How much should I pay my 14 yr old babysitter?

She's babysitting for me tomorrow 8 - 10.30pm. It's the first time we've used her and I have no idea what the going rate is (we normally use a babysitting circle but that's who I'm going out with). I know she's quite young but her parents live across the street if there are any problems.

So what do you pay yours? We're in the south-east (not London) - I guess that makes a difference.

When I was 14 I got £1.50 an hour but that was 20 years ago.
Has she not asked about money at all? Perhaps offer her £10-£15.

I was going to say £4-£5 an hour

, think £15 would be perfectly fair

Id say £10,my 16 yr old sometimes babysits for neighbours from about 8-1am and they give him £20.

We're in London and pay our 17-year-old babysitter £5 an hour. We give her a lift home afterwards too.

I pay ours £10 for 8pm to 11pm usually. Like you she lives across the road.

Thanks all. I ended up not getting back until just now so paid her £20 out of guilt!
