Things I could do with help with off the top of my head are...

First aid kit (get so many different variations on what we should/ shouldn't have) What have you got in yours?

How much planning is enough because that is a weak area? I've got a whiteboard to write next steps on.

Risk assesments, do we need one for every single outing or are general ones enough?

I have policies coming out of my ears, cert's on display, EYFS ok I think apart from planning. Got cleaner weekly plus I keep on top of it day to day, got all my paperwork like car insurance etc ready.

Mindee's mum said she would write a glowing report for me to show them as she thinks I'm fab. My 10yr old mindee said she would draw a picture about how she feels when she is at my house.

I did send questionaires out a while ago and all paperwork like attendance book, contracts, parentel responsibility etc is all sorted.

I've got daily risk assesment sheet which i sign daily and record any actions.

I need to do my SEF which I know will take hours! Dh has just told me he's working full days the weekend before they are due as well so having time to do my sef is going to be tricky.

What else?

Thanks

Will send you sum stuff if you like. Re the white board good idea so you can see at a glance where everyone is at, but I think Ofsted will want to see written down, showing how the next steps have been planned for and where they are at now IYSWIM. You can do some of the SEF and submit what youv'e done I think might save some inspection time. Just out of interest is your inspection due now or has it been moved forward, quite a few around here are a good 4 - 6mths ahead of schedule, just wondering if I should start panicking pre-xmas or post.

If you don't have time to do your SEF, print off a paper copy and make some brief notes in it to show your inspector. At least this way they will see you are thinking about your practice (they do like it if you have done it online though).

The NCMA first aid kit contains: 20 Assorted Washproof Plasters 2 Eyepad Dressing with loop 4 Triangular Bandage 6 HSE Medium Dressing 12cm x 12cm 2 HSE Large Dressing 18cm x 18cm 6 Assorted Safety Pins 6 Reliwipes 1 Rebreath Resuscitation Device 5 Reliswab Sterile Gauze Swabs 2 Gloves (pair) 1 Religauze Tubular Gauze 1m 1 Plastic Finger Applicator 1 Microporous Tape 1.25cm x 10m 5 Relipad Dressing 5cm x 5cm 1 First Aid Scissors

I pointed out to my inspector that (as a childminder) I have few enough children to be able to keep their plans in my head. I also demonstrated that I had identified a need to work on shapes with a child and the half started artwork was on the table waiting for her to finish off. All inspectors are different though and I think most would like to see at least a couple of notes for each child.

I do general risk assessments and then make notes in my diary on the day of specific risks identified for outings for the day. I also have a daily ticklist for the house.

I got pulled up for having a copy of my Ofsted certificate on display, instead of the original.

Great to have a reference from a Mum and a child.

They will love your questionnaires, but will ask you what action you are taking as a result of them.

You sound like you're pretty much sorted. Just think about your answers to questions about equal ops/inclusion/etc.

Thanks Tigersmum, I have emailed you

They were due end of Oct so a bit late but that is fine with me The next steps are planned because of a folder I have which has the eyfs stuff in and I work out from there what needs to be concentrated on next although tbh as I only care for a couple of full time under 5's I am well aware of where they are at without needing the paperwork but hey ho lets not go there!

I'm really going to try and do the SEF as I'm attending a course for it so I could do it.

Questionaires only 1 parent filled it in and she put that mindee loves coming to mine and happy with the care etc only critisim was that she wanted to know more about daily activities (used to talk for 10 mins end of everyday but then I took on more children and then parents were all collecting at the same time so made it tricky to chat) I did write a sheet but mum didn't keep them together so it was hard for her to get an overview of his week/ month etc so we changed to using a book so now she can look back over a longer period of time and she was much happier, I'm always happy to change what I'm doing if needs be so think ofsted will be happy to see I do take on parents points of view?

I've got quite a few references/ thank you letters etc so hopefully that will go down well.

I think I'm pretty much ok but there is always the nagging thought in the back of your head there is something obvious you have forgotten!
