What do you think about 'Sunflower Childminding Services'?

As you guessed I'm a childminder, we wanted to call ourselfs something as I'm expanding shortly.
I came up with 'Happy Days' but no one liked it.
DS (7) said what about 'Daffodil CMS' and then suggested 'Sunflower'
DS (3) Wants it to be called Sweetie childminding!! (I didn't think it gave the right empression )

I think the word "services" is the bit that doesn't sound right - it almost sounds as if you are offering 'services' to childminders. Or sounds a bit uncaring, servicing the children like a garage services cars.

You could just use 'sunflower childminding' (or play club / out of school club or whatever).

Just my opinion, and I'm not an ex-marketing person or childminder or used one. I'm merely a parent.

KatyMac · 20/06/2005 22:38

I think Softfroggie has hit the nail on the head that's how I feel

Twiglett · 21/06/2005 07:56

softfroggie has said exactly what I would have .. services smacks to much of 'officialdom'

Sunflower Out of School Club maybe

or use your name 'Xena's Out of School Club'

kcemum · 21/06/2005 09:46

How about "Zenas wrap around school club"

Xena · 21/06/2005 10:44

Ok I decided just to ditch the services bit as Soft froggie and lots of you advised.

Are you happy Xena?

Xena · 21/06/2005 21:43

Hi KM. Happy? I think so. To many things swirling around in my head to organise. Have asked 2/3 people if they would like to work and they have said yes and booked themselves into the pre reg meeting in July. Asking last one tomorrow. Just taking on 2 b4 and after schoolers will pay my wage bill it seems. With 3 p/t ladys, one b4 school and 2 after overlapping IYSWIM. Put a thread out for a webpage designer to get that done. How long did it take you start to finish?

What about SunflowersChildminding?

KatyMac · 21/06/2005 21:57

I'm just concerned that I can't do boys.....but I'll try

Xena · 21/06/2005 21:59

Xena · 21/06/2005 22:00

Who did your website? Why does it take so long?

OP posts:
KatyMac · 21/06/2005 22:03

Sorry i thought you were talking about opening the OOSC, not the website

Website would have taken about 2/3 weeks but I was a bad customer

I'm sure I'll cope but the oldest is dyslexic and dad wants me to help him...well I will but I'm not a teacher

ThePrisoner · 21/06/2005 22:03

I mind some older boys - some of them I've had since they were babies, so are much easier. I tend to ask them all what sort of things they like to do, and then invest heavily in whatever it is they want! I have a wide mix of ages of children, particularly in the school hols or afterschool, but find that having younger mindees often brings out the caring side of the older ones (even the boys!)

KatyMac · 21/06/2005 22:08

That is reassuring, I've said I can put any computer games on my puter fro them - but they didn't have any - I'll ask at school to see if anyone has any to sell?

I also thought a proper football and maybe a goal - we have cricket and tennis, trampoline and climbing frame, what else might I need?

Sorry Xena for the major hijack

Xena · 21/06/2005 22:13

I had my DS and 2 other boys today after school and they just played in the garden racing bikes toys etc.

Xena · 21/06/2005 22:15

No probs I seem to always hijack your threads

OP posts:
Xena · 21/06/2005 22:16

Would you recommend your designer KMC?

OP posts:
KatyMac · 21/06/2005 22:27

100% - you can get her from my website (there is a contact thingie - I think)

But she is going on Maternity soon I think....

Do older boys and babies mix? ThePrisoner seems to think so

Xena · 21/06/2005 22:35

Both my DD's like the big boys they prefer them to the bigger girls

Applejack · 27/07/2005 17:13

Um, probably a bit late on this thread, but I am a childminder and I have been working under the name Sunflower Childminding Services since October last year. I found that people liked it becaus eit was sunny, bright and happy, and I grow sunflowers outside every year, so seemed to make sense, iyswim!

Good luck, and well done for choosing such a fabby name!

Carly xx
