I did have mine today, in the end which I was very pleased about 15/17 was "good" and 2 were "satisfactory" which was for not sharing info with mindees preschool (they don't give a monkeys but never mind) and something else about mindees not having access to ALL toys ALL the time which is slightly unreasonable..

Anyway - I had asked my four parents to write a letter reviewing my practice and they all came back appreciative and glowing. I am over the moon with it. Want to feel appreciated, have an inspection!

"and something else about mindees not having access to ALL toys ALL the time which is slightly unreasonable.."

that's daft - they'd be no room to move and it'd be a H&S hazzard if i let them get all the toys out all the time

well done on your inspection crace

Well done, sounds like you did well and how lovely to get such nice letters from the parents!

Did they have any suggestions for how the children should access all the toys all the time? Would the children not get bored if not rotated etc? sounds like just a personal fad and (like when Health Visitors make odd comments) you just have to say 'ooooh good idea' and nod, thinking to yourself 'in 3 years time it'll hopefully be a different and less barmy inspector!'

Exactly - it was actually the same one I had previously - didn't look in garden, fridge or kitchen (!) for that matter. Critiqued my risk assessments which are the stolen templates from BCMA site, had a quick look round first floor. And yet here for 3 hours!

just wish they all sang from the same hymn sheet and then we might understand and anticipate the requirments. Seems like eacxh inspector has their own set of standards.

well dont to you.

pippin26 · 14/11/2009 23:16

The way children can have access to all toys without having them all out is by making a 'choice or resource' book. Photos of the toys with the wording - kids look through it and they 'access' their own toys. This is also a very child centered/led approach and can be considered involving children in planning.
It is unreasonable to expect all toys to be physically available at all times and not something most of us would be able to do.

oooh Pippin, that is a good idea - although what do you do if the point to all of them or if each child wants (hugely) different things? Might get tricksy?

leeloo1 · 15/11/2009 10:47

oops, they point...
