CM CLUB - Anyone else considering putting their fee's up?

I'm considering putting my fee's up next year for a few reasons....

The cost of things have risen a lot things like electric, gas, food, petrol plus the amount of time I spend doing paperwork for the EYFS and I haven't put my prices up since 2007.

What is the average price to change in the midlands?

Is there any point putting prices up with the recession etc?

know what you mean, things are getting more expensive.. I live in the Midlands and charge £3.00 an hour including all meals and snacks.

DH suggested putting up fees by 5% so £3.15 per hour, that would add up by the end of the week as I am full at the moment and as he pointed out thats £80.0 better off a week...

mind you I am a bit of a pushover and hate to rock the boat with my parents.. oh dear..

FoofFighter · 12/11/2009 18:35

No, I am not planning to put fees up in the next 12 months at least. I last put them up a year ago now but I don't feel it's the right time and things aren't too tight so I don't feel the need to.

yet!

I put mine up each september by 10p an hour, (always do it in september so that schoolies parents are not so shocked how much full time care is during the holidays {grin]

LoveMyGirls · 12/11/2009 19:28

I thinking maybe put them up a bit next september, is it best to warn parents?

It's an annual event here. For some bizarre reason I made it January, so it makes for a horrible Christmas present for parents! Will have to change that sometime .... maybe to September (good idea).

Fruitbatlings · 13/11/2009 13:44

I've also made my fees increase an annual event
£40 to £45 per day - some charge £55 per day round here so I feel I'm justified.
I sent a letter out ages ago and no one has batted an eyelid. one set of parents were glad as they feel I don't charge enough!

Fruitbatlings · 13/11/2009 13:45

Oh, I'm not in the Midlands though - SW London here

looneytune · 13/11/2009 14:34

I REVIEW my fees every September/October, parents are INFORMED by end of October and the fees increase is with effect from the following FEBRUARY.

I've therefore recently informed my parents of the charges from Feb next year and no problems. I actually put them up by 30p an hour this time but this is now for an all inclusive service so I provide nappies, wipes etc.

I'm in the midlands and started minding 2 years ago and charge £4 per hour, but I do term time only contracts and don't charge a retainer for the hols. Its always worked well for me,it used to be easy to check the local prices on the childlink website but now the new website is useless. On my fees I always put the date of the next review so it covers me if I want to put them up.

i'm going to put up my prices this january as it is 2 years since the last increase - atm i'm charging £3.20 p/h and i'm putting it up to £3.40 p/h - i totally understand that it is not a good time because of the recession BUT i wanted to put it up last year and held off, i can't stay the same price forever.
i'm in Devon.
