i'm really sorry, your actually abit further away than i thought you were. sorry.

nannynick · 28/06/2009 10:06

I'm wondering how Eltham is Blackheath? I grew up in that area, went swimming at Eltham, live in Blackheath. As a child distances always seem greater than they really are but I'd still say that unless you lived in Blackheath village, Cator Estate, a house overlooking the heath itself... then you aren't in Blackheath.

There is also more than one Blackheath... for example, Blackheath GU4.

When composing ads, I'd suggest being a lot clearer about your location. Just my view.

Good luck with filling your vacancies.

NewPenName · 28/06/2009 11:37

bit like lewisham, Blackheath, kidbrooke, Blackheath...
yes, good luck to you but fairer to parents to state exactly where you are as location crucial in choosing childcare. Also, there are a few childminders in blackheath proper, used a great one myself. Word of mouth best way, imho, school-gate referrals etc.

rosiebud · 28/06/2009 12:29

Hi see your point, however for the sack of a 5 mins car journey didn't think it made too much difference ,but to clarify the childcare would take place in Eltham near to Falconwood train station which has trains into London every 10/15mins,we have off street parking so a parent dropping off could leave their car here all day if they needed tpo go to work on a train and then its here for evening collection? If any one interested drop me a line/ thanks

Hi rosiebud, i'll be returning to work in January and work in Welling. My little one will be 5 months then. Will you have any vacancies in Jan 2010? And do you take babies that young? Many thanks, Becky

MichelleSE3 · 05/09/2009 19:36

Hi

i am currently based in Blackheath but will be moving to SE7, Charlton Village 9th Oct. I am new to this.. i have a 10mth baby girl and i am giving up my work in Finance to be a full time mom and CM. I welcome any queries and thoughts.. i am on a grt bus route.. not quite Blackheath.. but then Blackheath is not the centre of the universe ;) m

nannynick · 05/09/2009 21:19

Blackheath was the centre of my universe when I was age 3!
Good luck with your move and change in job Michelle - how far along the CM registration process are you?

MichelleSE3 · 06/09/2009 10:34

Hi Nannynick

i agree.. BHeath is good choice as centre of the universe but not the most affordable, unfortunately ..

I have just started the process..i have my briefing at the end of the month. i cant wait to get started. my little girl goes to daycare full time at the mo and is not getting the best care cant afford to put her in a more expensive place. i want to stay home to care for her and to also open our home to other little babies / children. my fam are all abroad so this would also be a way for us to welcome more people into our lives.... we cld both do with more friends / playmates :0 i love being with children.. i am also a qualified personal development coach and want to use some of my skills in my new career with little people. i have just signed a lease on a beautiful hse near Charlton village near the park .. really spacious and huge garden.. lots of room to play and be creative.. the nurery my baba currently goes to.. keeps the babies in one little room all day.. i have on the odd occassion picked baba up in the middle of the day and she was just sitting there.. looking like she had been crying for a while..breaks my heart.. i am sure that there are so many moms like me.. who dont have a choice and dont have pots of cash either... i hope to be a good CM... lots of room for the babies to play.. and lots of cuddles and attention.. i come from a HUGE family and children are meant to be seen and heard

nannynick · 06/09/2009 11:39

Good luck with the compulsory training course and the Ofsted inspection. You will find lots of advice on here with regard to Registered Childminding. The registration process can take some time... 12 weeks+ is typical. So I don't expect you will be childminding until next year at the earliest - by which time your DD will be 1, so Ofsted may let you care for one baby, one child aged 1-5 plus your own DD. School age children are also an option... see which local schools you could easily collect from. The number of children Ofsted let you care for will depend on various factors, including the size of the home... so it's good that your new home is spacious and I'm sure the garden, plus local park will appeal to parents.
I don't know Charlton at all... my memories from my childhood only really recall Blackheath Village, Cator Estate and Greenwhich Park (which I visited this week, with the children I nanny).

MichelleSE3 · 06/09/2009 20:42

thx nannynick

only next year i was hoping to start in Nov

nannynick · 06/09/2009 21:13

Alas 12 weeks is target, that's from the date Ofsted get your registration form. As you will read on here, it has taken some childminders a lot longer to become registered... CRB checks, Health checks can cause delays.
Ask at your briefing session how long they anticipate it will take to become registered.
Also try to get the registration form off them as quickly as possible, as then you can get the ball rolling. You can't get the form from Ofsted directly alas.

Hi Michelle, as i said last week i'm returning to work in January and am so dreading having to put my little girl into a nursery in case they are left all day crying. Will you let me know when you are registered and keep me in mind for a place for my daughter in Jan? She is adorable and i would love her to be looked after by someone lovely who understands children x

MichelleSE3 · 08/09/2009 12:50

Hi meninas, are you near enough to John Ball school to drop-off/pick up? I have 2 children, one at school full time and one due to start nursery in Jan.

Thanks

Hi joanne71,

About 5 mins drive. We are close to the Blackheath Royal Standard.
What time your child start/leave school? how many days do you need?
