CM Club:Not being a scare monger, not panicking (much) but financially what would happen if we had to close due to Swine flu?

Say the schools we pick up from close due to swine flu

We have had advise that we would have to close

So what happens wrt money - I am not being greedy but if I had to close it would be a big problem to not earn for a week (or could be 2)

If I'm closed parents wouldn't pay - so could I claim anything?

Now to add to it I employ people - so would I still have to pay them if I wasn't earning?

Sorry to panic a little bit

What do you reckon on changing contracts to include fees if we have to close due to enforcement or events beyond our control, does anyone think that it will be or maybe a real possibility?

Does anyone know any minders working near to where schools have already been closed and what happend with them?

Morton Michel do not cover you if you close as a precaution (through the Gov/Council/HPU)ONLY if there is actually Swine flu present in the setting

I asked

I'm wondering what constitutes as being the 'local health authority' in the guidance. Does it include local council Environmental Health, for example?

What liability does the local health authority have with regards to preventing the spread of disease? If they tell a setting to close, could the local heath authority be sued by parents to recover the money they pay the setting in fees, plus lost earnings? As if the setting has to close, then the health authority has failed to prevent the disease spreading to children in the local area. Hmm... tricky legal thing I suspect.
