We are off to Wimborne Model Town, as long as the weather holds.

I have only one 16 month mindee as the other two have tummy bug

Morning Shoshe (& everybody else)

We are doing a local authority creche today - I wish I had never taken the contract, I lose money on it hand over fist

Then this evening will be very stressful too - with children all over the place as my regular evening helper is working mornings......hmm someone organised that badly

HSMM · 19/05/2009 07:52

Got a young Mum coming to visit today, so she can decide if she wants to be a childminder. We are going to spend the morning playing with the children. Do you think she will have decided against it once I start on paperwork this afternoon?

coolj · 19/05/2009 08:06

Morning everyone, well at least its not raining for the moment.

Have a good day.

mumlove · 19/05/2009 08:16

Morning everyone.

It's dry here to at the moment, hopefully it will last as it's walk to school week!

Off to music tots this morning.

Littlepurpleprincess · 19/05/2009 10:07

It's wet and windy this morning so we're welly booted and heading to the garden for some water play!

My tuff spot arrived this morning, it's great. Feels like christmas!

I know, I'm a bit sad...

Mindee still grating on me a bit. Apparently I'm supposed to tell DS off for touching his sock

OFSTEDoutstanding · 19/05/2009 10:59

Morning everyone am feeling really today. Would love you to have a look at my thread Time to say Goodbye? If you have a minute and leave me your views. TIA

Littlepurpleprincess · 19/05/2009 11:07

Feel like crap. have had to separate DS and mindee. I can't listen to them fight anymore.

southernbelle77 · 19/05/2009 14:06

Afternoon. Seems like today isn't the best day for anyone. Sorry for those of you feeling down. I will join you though if you don't mind. I am tired and fed up of this job. I don't feel I can do it justice anymore and that makes me feel really sad. More than ever I am now considering not returning after I go on maternity leave. I don't know what I will do instead but right now, this is not the job for me

looneytune · 19/05/2009 14:18

Add me to the list of fed up CMs!!

Littlepurpleprincess · 19/05/2009 16:25

The thing is I love the job, I just don't like this child. He tells tales on DS all day and then gets upset when DS thumps him, but can I blame him? He can't do right for doing wrong with this kid. All DS wants to do is play.

looneytune · 19/05/2009 16:28

Same here, LOVE my job, not happy with how things are atm. And to think that after 2 weeks of 6 kiddies all day most days, I was high as a kite, loved it!!! But then again, didn't have the school runs!! lol

Littlepurpleprincess · 19/05/2009 16:32

Yeah school runs are hard work. If I walk it takes and hour to get there, pick her up and get home again, and I'm only doing one so I get 3 quid for it! £3!!!!! (per day)

looneytune · 19/05/2009 16:48

Blimey, I wouldn't bother for THAT!!!

It takes me over and hour and that's driving!!!

Littlepurpleprincess · 19/05/2009 17:00

I have to bother tho, I have to start somewhere.

Basically, I charge £8.50 for school pick up til 6pm, incl dinner. But this mum said she only wants an hour, she picks up as soon as I get back. I think £3 for the hour is fine but it's my most busy part of the day. Wouldn't mind if I had 3+ kids but with one it's just not worth it. I should've stuck to my guns and said no, I charge sessionally, take it, or leave it.

It was my first one and the younger brother is full time so it's kind of worth it just to get him. IYSWIM.

looneytune · 19/05/2009 19:57

Oh no, wasn't meaning it as a dig (sorry if came across like that), was just annoyed for you. I had a mindee 2/3 years ago then things changed - this child is now at school and when they first started, the mum asked me to have him for an hour after school, as and when needed but about twice a week. She seemed very put out and unhappy with me when I explained that I'd not be able to take him for 1 hour as someone else could come along wanting a proper after school care contract. I also explained that in the school holidays, having to do something like 2-4 wouldn't work due to outings etc. She seemed pissed off and I know why.....she was hoping for a cheapy deal!! Anyway, I'm pleased I said no but I do understand what it's like to need the work (been there!) so at least you're getting some money in. And btw, I'd read it as £3 thinking it was ONE DAY a week but I see it's more than that

looneytune · 19/05/2009 19:59

Oh....another thing I missed was the bit about the brother - I get that MUCH MORE as of course, that's a proper little earner for you and you can't have 1 without the other!! Anyway, see the positives.....by you going to the school, you get seen and eventually you'll no doubt get enquiries

Littlepurpleprincess · 20/05/2009 08:15

I didn't take it as a dig at all!

It's 2 days a week I have her, which isn't much.

I think you were right to say no, and this what I will do in future.

It's very helpful to talk to other CMs.
