Is there anyone who would do this?

I have 3 DC, 7, 4 and 8 weeks. My DH had 3 weeks off work after DD was born and helped massivley (school run, cooking etc). I then had the help of a doula who got DC ready for school, morning school run, some laundry, tidying/cleaning round etc (was great!) The doula finished early this week. I am struggling with tiredness when I can't go back to bed in the day (due to night feeds) and wondering if there is anytime od childcare that would come and get DC ready and take them to school?

Hi!
Where do you live?

Twims · 16/05/2009 22:14

You could get a student who would be able to work it into their morning - or maybe a mothers help 3 days a week?

perhaps a mothers help would suit you best or a student who is doing a childcare related degree as many of them finish between now and mid june for summer.

or alternatively if you can afford it a night nanny 2-3 nights a week.

With the benefit of experience (4 DCs aged 9,7,6 and 4) the tiredness will pass and you will get through it. I promise! Do you have any friends who your DH could drop them with early, or does your school have a breakfast club? If so, could DH get them dressed and drop them off to breakfast club for a few weeks until the tiredness drops. Or could friends pick up the DCs and drop them back after school to give you chance to sleep in the afternoon? Or someone take the baby off your hands for an hour or to during the day, so you can rest? Where I live the mums seem to have a "policy" of helping each other out with a newborn and I have benefited and given back to this unspoken saviour of a system!
Or could you get a cleaner or some domestic help which would lighten the load at home, and allow you to go to bed as soon as DC are in bed. It's easier to find domestic help than good reliable childcare I always find.
It's the university hols shortly, so there may be some students home for the holidays who would like to help - trouble is no student I know likes to get up early!
I used to go to bed at 8pm for many months, just to survive. But it doesn't last for ever.

Night nanny was always something I dreamed of, but couldn't afford!
Good luck!

some childminders will do pick up from your house, and drop to school

other than that it will be mothers help I guess, who can also do housework and childcare while you nap etc too

Thanks for all your replies - I am going to see how I get on this week.

A student doing child related studies maybe good. I don't want a night nanny TBH.

Looby DH leaves home at 6 so he can't drop the Dc anywhere (although he usually works from home at least 1 day a week). I am really not great at asking friends for help and feel that paying someone would suit me better. I may have to resort to early nights but I won't see much of DH and I really look forward to my relative peace at that time.

RachieB - I might look into a childminder who will collect if things don't improve.

NBM where in the country are you. Maybe someone here might be able to help?

lisad123 · 17/05/2009 23:17

I would do it if you were nearby, but then my kids are up at ungodly hours of the morning anyways

LittlePaws · 18/05/2009 09:37

I am a childminder who has little ones here from 6am, so wouldn't be a problem for me.

Where do you live?
Maybe me or my friend can help you?
