been 2 year ssince I did any minding.

If it says on a CM (IN England) inspection report that
"the childmidner is registered to care for a maximum of 4 children at any one time"
and that report was in 2007, does that mean 4 children under 8, or 4 children in total?

4 under 8 lovie, it then should say how many under 5, and of those how many under 1,

ie. 4 under 8, of these not more than 2 under 5, and of these not more than 1 under 1 year at any one time.

looneytune · 16/05/2009 17:00

It will be under 8's as you could and still can have as many over 8's as you want as long as it doesn't affect the care of the rest of the children. Public Liability insurance only cover for a certain amount though so that would need to be checked.

Does that help?

Oh.....and has it been THAT long!!! What's the latest? You waiting to get on a course still?

Saltire · 16/05/2009 17:00

Right it just says what I've put in OP. it doesn't mention how many under 5 or under 1, it jsut says "registered for a maximum of 4 children at any one time.

So her own year 5 (not sure what age)and year 3 children won't be included in that number, or the year 5, yr4 and year 3 children she looks after

Is that from when you were in Scotland? Were you under Ofsted then?

Saltire · 16/05/2009 17:02

looney - I got on a course and got my registration through, but healthwise, ATM it's easier for me to do my 3 hours a day, 4 days a week in the place iwork. Even that's tiring me out though

The report isn't mine it's my neighoburs. I've called a council of war against her.

Sorry, didn't know you had health issues As for the neighbour

I've never heard of a certificate which is worded like that, doesn't make sense as should give the breakdown of how many allowed in each age group

KatyMac · 16/05/2009 17:20

Can you put your postcode in the OFSTED website & look at it on there?

Saltire · 16/05/2009 17:21

Yes, have Fibromyalgia which is quit ebad at the minute.

yes it's the same neighbour. My anger has convinced me to do the right thing, regardless of whether she knows it's me or not. I may also have a need to call RSPCA about her dog. Also am logging noise incidents for the defence estates

I'm not linking to the report for obvious reasons, but that's all it says. it doesn't mention under5s or under 1s.

School Year Groups with typical age of child. It is usually the age which they become during that academic year.

Reception = 5
Year 1 = 6
Year 2 = 7
Year 3 = 8
Year 4 = 9
Year 5 = 10
Year 6 = 11
Year 7 = 12
Year 8 = 13
Year 9 = 14

So to answer your question, those in Year 4 and upwards are outside of the Under8's ratio. A child in year 3 may be in the ratio, or may not be - depending on if they are actually 8 years old yet.

looneytune · 16/05/2009 17:49

Sorry to hear you're suffering hun, hope you get better soon although I'm aware it's something that's always there

As for the neighbour, good for you!!!

Re the certificate....I can't help as I still don't understand how it can not explain what the breakdown is as per what Shoshe said

looneytune · 16/05/2009 17:49

I'd phone Ofsted and see what her conditions are re the ages!

Saltire · 16/05/2009 17:54

Thanks was just hoping wondering if she had too many. She has 10 in total- 2 year 5, 2 year 4, 2 year 3, 1 year 2, and 3 under 5

OP posts:
Saltire · 16/05/2009 17:55

The childminder is registered to care for a maximum of four children at any one time and
currently has no children on roll. The childminder walks to local schools to take and collect
children

That's what it says, copied and pasted that bit

Shoshe · 16/05/2009 18:03

so she has 4 under 8, sorry Salty but she is within her numbers, unless the year 3 is not 8 yet.

Saltire · 16/05/2009 18:07

Oh well it was worth a try. I have enough to be going on with though.

OP posts:
nannynick · 16/05/2009 18:21

Saltire - what you posted at 17:55 sounds like it's from an inspection report, not from the certificate itself. The Oxcare system should give you the certificate details, it's before you click through to the inspection report.
Just checking... it is England that you are in.

The care of over 8's must not be detrimental to the care of under 8's, but how Ofsted decide that I have no idea. Size of home may be a factor... is the house large enough to accommodate 10 children?

Saltire · 16/05/2009 18:50

nick - I'd say no to the question of house size. I personally wouldn't CM for 10 children in this house, and mine is the same size as hers
