I know the same recipe, but I just use boiling water from the kettle and bung it in the food processor to whizz - no actual cooking required!

I use half a cup of salt, a cup of flour, some food colouring and water, mix it up and there you go...

It doesn't keep for long but it doesn't need cooking at all, and you can bake what they've made in the oven, varnish and keep it forever, good for christmas decs.

Just wondering, does the above recipe wash out of the saucepan easily IYSWIM?

Without the cream of tartar I don't think it keeps as long. Though expect it will still last a week or so, if kept refrigerated.

Playdoh is so quick to make, though can be messy to get out of the bowl. One thing that can help is to apply some oil to the inside of the bowl before you start.

Don't use a saucepan, just use a big glass bowl and use hot water.

Children I babysit love making this, keep on asking me to make it... but their parents never have a big bag of salt - I'd better start keeping bags of salt in my car!

It does wash out of the saucepan really easily .... as long as you wash the saucepan straight away

Numberfour · 15/05/2009 12:25

my mixture was very very very very very very very very VERY sticky

yuck

I always make mine in a pan so can't comment on the non cook bit but I've never had a problem with my pan not getting clean. I just leave to soak after and it cleans up very easily. You can put loads of glitter in too - makes a nice change

Littlepurpleprincess · 17/05/2009 13:10

Yeah I put black food colouring and blue glitter in it. Looks cool.
