Nannies car insurance

As a nanny using MBs car for work purposes I am fully insured for this.

Question for you pls. Am I insured to carry another nanny and their charge when both sets of parents have knowledge of this?
Do I need a letter from the other family saying this is ok?

Thanks in advance.

i cant see why not

you are just carrying other people in it

you shouldnt need their permission but the other nanny should obv have her employers permission iykwim

i often have spare children in my car - i have a 7 seater

Actually on this one I don't know. Insurance can be quite a minefield - insurers can often choose not to pay out on policies for a variety of reasons.

As a nanny using MBs car for work purposes I am fully insured for this.

Do you have your own insurance, or are you a named driver on your MBs? Does it state on the policy that it covers you for children for whom you are paid to provide childcare? Some policies will phrase it such as ?Social, Domestic & Pleasure purposes and Business use in connection with childcare activities? (such as Morton Michel: MotorCare) but even with that I do not feel we can be 100% sure that in the event of a major claim the insurer wouldn't try to quibble out of paying. All we can do is hope to be able to prove that we took as much insurance cover as was available to us.

Am I insured to carry another nanny and their charge when both sets of parents have knowledge of this?

If that nanny, or their parents are paying you in any form... then I would say that you are not covered. However you are probably not being paid by them.

A general car insurance policy will say something like: any passenger travelling in or getting into or out of Your Car.

So I read that as meaning that as long as the person is a non-fee paying passenger, then you are covered.

It all really depends on the exact policy wording of your insurance policy.

Working out what is and isn't covered is often very very tricky with policies and thus all you can do is hope that the cover is sufficient in the event that the worst happens.

I will check MBs policy, but, I def wont be paid for carrying them so yes, I take your point.

MBs policy? I thought you said you were insured... as meaning in your own right, not as a named driver on someone else's policy.

The policy may not be any different to a policy a parent has for transporting their own children... such policies may not pay out in the event of an employee driving the vehicle whilst there are passengers in that vehicle for whom that employee is paid to provide childcare. As I said before, it's an insurance nightmare!

Your nanny insurance however may include Contingency Motor Liability. This provides you with cover if you use someone else?s vehicle(with their permission) on nannying business. It covers you if the vehicle owner does not have the necessary cover in place. However you need to try to ensure that the vehicle used has appropriate motor insurance.

So in the event of a claim, it may be the situation that your Nanny Insurer would cover any passengers in the vehicle.

I would suggest that you really try not to have an accident whilst driving!

This sounds a nightmare. As far as i'm aware (i'll check, check and check again), I am on MB's policy as a named driver and nanny transporting MB's children while working (don't know how it's worded tho).

I am insured for my own car, but, it doesn't cover business use as I never use it for transporting the children so it's basic fully comp.

I will get this sorted out on monday.

as a nanny I would say no, due to the fact that its not the nannys own car( nannys mb car) and as its not your actual work, it may not be counted............

def check out ur mb insurance....
