hi, i've had the phone call from ofsted today they wanted to come next week, but i'm on holiday.

my inspectors responce was, "why are you going on holiday next week, its not a school holiday"

i explained that all my parents were fine with it, but she reaqlly didnt seam pleased. shes now coming the week after.

so am i doing something wrong, are cm's only ment to take holiday in the school holiday?

i'm worried i've messed up before i've even been inspected!

what has it got to do with Ofsted?
Mine usually has a week after the May half-term, but this year is having a week in June.
You are self employed, you can take your hols when you want. The only people you have to worry about are your parents surely? Not ofsted anyway.

Probably just upset her schedule and she is peed off that she has to work next week.

You can take your holidays when you want - tell them to bugger off . Ofsted can't dictate the terms of your business - am shocked at her attitude. Hope that's not an indication of what she's going to be like when she comes out . Good luck

Bloody hell, I take MOST of my holiday OUTSIDE school holidays as parents would be more stuck in the school hols otherwise!!! I'd actually complain she was like that to you!!! It's NONE of her business when you take your holiday. When I was phoned about my inspection she wanted to come the following week. I refused and said "I've got 6 children all day as it's school holidays and we have things planned for each day and I'm not going to change things and disappoint them". She then asked for the week after and I said "sorry, I can't as I've got that week off. you're welcome to come but I won't have any mindeess" and so she made it the following week.

Anyway, you might have had mindees on hols - would she have had a go because the parent chose to have a holiday????

So don't worry, you've done NOTHING wrong!!

it's none of her bloody business when you take your holiday!!!!

"£$%"£$$%&%££$"£%"$%"%&&%& OFSTED.

I have never taken a holiday during school holidays... for 2 reasons:

  1. I don't have to. I don't have my own kids. 2)It's more expensive to holiday at this time, for me and for the parents

That OFSTED inspector was wrong to say that to you. How unprofessional.

atworknotworking · 08/05/2009 18:39

I'm off next week too YIPEE!!!!

I can't afford to pay for hols during 1/2 terms its way expensive, and its dd birthday and quite frankly it suits us to take a week in May, I only have three weeks hols a year one in May and one at xmas and the other week is taken at odd days usually cos I need to do courses so I don't even class this week as a proper holiday, it's got nowt to do with ofsted and quite frankly my parents would find it more inconvinient if I took holiday club time off.

Personally I think Ofsted rule our lives quite enough as it is if they start dictating when we can have time off it would be the last straw for me

You have a fantastic week and tell the inspector to get nottid if she makes an issue of it - bet they take hols when they want - I'm doing my tax return and catching up with all the other bloodie stuff you never get time for when got the mindees.

atworknotworking · 08/05/2009 18:41

Number 4 - would love a translation of that one lol - think i get the drift tho

hellywobs · 08/05/2009 19:07

My cm took 2 days in October in school time last year and I think she often does, though this year she isn't.

It's nothing to do with Ofsted - it's to do with whether your parents can cope with it! If you give them lots of notice, they should be able to.

I wish my cm would take a week off in May (preferably half term) than in August, it's a much nicer time to go on holiday :-)

Ripeberry · 08/05/2009 20:14

If you are a CM and your own kids are at school you HAVE to take time off in the school holidays. There is no choice.

veryscaredleonifay · 09/05/2009 05:35

thanks, ididnt think it was any of there business but i just started panicing!
i dont have any children of myown and have got 5 children during the 1/2 term holiday so i thought this was quite a good time to go away!
underpaid i really hope its not a sign of what shes going to be like!

Exactly! I'd rather work the school hols and benefit from the extra money (as school children come all day of course)! Enjoy your week off and good luck with the inspection

HSMM · 09/05/2009 14:22

She probably didn't read your paperwork and thought you were at a school or something!
