OK - so it's my birthday & I had to ask the vet to put one of my chickens down
& samples have to be sent off to see if it wasinfected with anything
So I did a risk assessment, do you think this will do?
- Taken to the vet, samples taken before the chicken died. Vet assured me that the chicken was only recently ill and may be non-bacterial in origin.
- Stringent cross-contamination precautions to be taken:
*use disposable gloves when handling chickens, coop or eggs
*use designated apron when handling chickens, coop or eggs; to be removed & stored safely before entering the setting.
*no home produced eggs to be used in the setting.
- Once results are known, further tests on remaining chickens to be taken if there is any risk. If there is no risk normal cross-contamination precautions to be taken.
*wash hands after touching chickens, coop or eggs with hot soap & water. Supervise young children as necessary.
