My dd's wonderful childminder has just had an Ofsted visit. She was graded "good" in all areas and the only improvements which the inspector said she could make was to change three words in a policy. The bit I'm seething about is that the Ofsted inspector said that she couldn't get an "outstanding" unless she was a "nursery setting" who provided full session by session planning for each child in her care".
My childminder quite rightly said that she plans for each child, in a flexible way, depending on their interests, mood, health etc.
The inspector seems to have completely missed the point that parents make a choice to use childminders so their children can remain in a home and family environment. For those who want to choose a nursery, then that's great, but why on earth should childminders not be able to get an outstanding grade, but nurseries can.
Please come and tell me that the inspector is talking crap!
