sibling discount?

What dscount do you give, if any, for a sibling? I have said that i will give some discount but I am unsure of how much to give. It is for 2 full days for 2 children, my set charge is £3.50 and hour, I was thinking of offering second child at £3 and hour, does that sound fair?

TIA

i still dont see why cm should have to give a discount

that child is still taking a place

Chatkins · 01/05/2009 20:13

I did it once, I was charging 3.20 an hour at the time, and charged 6.oo an hour for two brothers. tbh I wouldn't do it again. Especially not in the current climate, every penny counts!

it is a Nice Thing To Do I reckon

I get a 50p discount - make sure you make the discount ~if you go down that route~ for the older child as they leave for preschool/school first and you won't have them as long

SillyMillysMummy · 01/05/2009 20:19

No, I agree a cm shouldnt have to, but I said I would . Just wanted to make it a fair amount.

I always think..."which child would the parent like me to neglect/give less care to"

Siblings often take more work than children from separate families (rivalry/squabbles/rules from home/jealousy)

They eat no less than children from separate families; neither do I need the electricity on less.

They take up the same spaces as children from separate families; plus it is more disruptive when they leave

Discount? I think I should be paid more

Julesnobrain · 02/05/2009 00:06

When I had 2 children at the same nursery I received a 10% discount for the 2nd child. If you charge £3.50 for the first child per hour and offered the 2nd child at £3.15 per hour then that sounds more than fair.

lindseyfox · 02/05/2009 17:19

maybe offer the discount once they have been with you 6mths that gives them a incentive to stay so maybe say you will give them a 50p per hr discount for the eldest child after they have been with you that long

I charge £3.75 and hour for a 3 year old I look aftern and look after her sibling who is 5 for £3.25 an hour (so for less time). I wish I didn't and probably wouldn't do it again unless as a pair they were worth a lot of money a month.

The sibling winds the other up, they argue, they always both want the same toy, the older one encourages the younger to be naughty - it is a complete nightmare - it really isn't worth the hastle for £3.25 an hour.
