how much should i pay per hour for a babysitter in north london to look after my 5-month old daughter 4 hours a day 2 days a week for a couple of months? i work from home and will be upstairs in my office so there, except when they go to the park etc.
she lives across the street. she has no qualifications but is simply a nice responsible person who has school age children. i just need some time to be able to get work done during the week. she will give her a bottle, play with her, put her down for her naps and then babysitter can read/watch tv/talk on phone, etc. thanks for your help.

I'd say £6 an hour.

As long as they don't have another job, pay less than £95 per week - then you won't need to operate PAYE. National Minimum Wage is currently £5.73 per hour (gross), so that would be the minimum.

So anything between £6 and £10 per hour would be fine.

I suppose you are looking for a mothers help really as in the daytime and you will be working from home so will be there.

So around £6-£7 an hr gross would be fine.

if you are not set on hours why not contact the local university and see if any students doing a child related degree would be interested either to fit around their studies (student teachers and childrens nurses wont finish for summer til end july/beg aug for nurses) or some studies finish end of may and anyone having contact with children would have had a CRB check.

i'm paying £8 an hour in south London. She's quite experienced though.
