CM Club:My parents are fed up with signing things; is there another way to go?

I try to keep the amount they sign to a minimum

But I fail

So is there a way I can meet my obligations to OFSTED & not get random signatures on a regular basis?

just remind them that it is not your decision and blame big bad them... or get good at forgery

seriously my two boys go to two different cms and it doesnt bother me!

Nope .

I have now made a list of what I need to be signed for when/if I get a new parent. How do nurseries get away with not needing so many signatures from parents when we're all supposed to be singing from the same hymn sheet . I signed one permission - photos - for ds last year and that's it.

Stupid rules

Stupid rules that only seem to apply to cms

Nurseries have to sign forms - we used to have several (15+) registration forms at my nursery which we then had to get re-signed every 3 months to ensure nothing had changed, then parents had to sign behaviour forms, accident forms as and when.

This is a school state nursery, not a private one. If children bump their head they come out with a sticker saying, 'I bumped my head today, please keep an eye on me'.

I think I am up to 25 on initial signing but renewed each year plus odds & sods through the year

That is a lot isn't it. I'm sorry I don't know anything about what they are signing, but would it be possible to have the parents initial in boxes next to various statements on one document, then sign once at the end?

KatyMac · 23/04/2009 21:53

That's what I do

But it's silly - OFSTED said I needed separate signatures for the large & small trampoline - that is silly

I think I need streamlining - but I am not sure how

I have most of the routine questions on a tick list, which they sign at the end, but still have to collect regular signatures. It's a real pain with the parents that I never see, who could also not be bothered to return forms!

hellywobs · 24/04/2009 12:56

How about putting everything on one large document and getting the one signature? or appending them all to the contract and just getting each page initialled and having the contract say that the policies are included?

I don't know why Ofsted say that you need so many signatures - why? It doesn't mean a parent can't sue if a care-giver has been negligent and a child has an accident. It's like my CM tried to make me sign something that said I was entirely happy that she was getting a dog? I don't mind signing to say I have received things but I'm not agreeing to everything.

KatyMac · 24/04/2009 21:28

That kinda what I do

But it seems very time consuming
