Tax credit advice

I have just registered as a childminder and don't know what to tell Tax credits. They need an estimate of what I will earn this year but I don't have a clue.

I have worked out how much I would earn if all my places were filled, full time, but I don't know how many places will actually be filled, so what figure am I supposed to give?

Any advice from other childminders who have dealt with Tax credits would be really appriciated.

Just base it on what you earn just now. If later in the year you start to earn at lot more, just ring and tell tax credit people. Thats all Ive done.

mmm I don't have any mindees right now but I'm meeting a mum this weekend. I think I will tell them that I expect to earn less than Personal Allowence. Will that be ok?

Thanks Coolj.

I always estimate for them I don't childmind
I would tell them a figure for an easily reachable number of clients you can always change it.

Dear SparklingSarah

Tax credit people will take your income as well as your partner's,if you are not minding but likely to get mindes you can say any figure to suite your circumstances under £10000 a year.
That's what I done,I only got 1 full time at the moment and my husband is also a childminder. I told them £8000, last year I told them £10000 but did not make any money from childminding so they ended up giving me big lump sum at the end of the tax year.I hope this information will help

I phoned TC yesturday and was told that they would not need an esimate, just last years earnings, but I was doing a different job last year and not self-employed.

It's all gobbledegook to me.

Going off the subject a bit, but will they need to know about DP's student finance, or not because that's money he will have to pay back?
