Hi, just had a letter from the local authority to say I must update my contracts to include who has legal contact with a child and who has parental responsibility..
All of my mindees parents are either married or cohabiting and all are the natural parents of the children, no messy divorec or step parent stuff.
I dont want to have to rewrite all the bloody contracts, I use N.C.M.A ones. Is there a form of words I could just print off and get all parents to sign.. along with all the other bloody crap they have to.. help..

Hadn't heard of that one but had new ncma contracts delivered last week, just looked at them and there is a new section 'Details of parental responsibility, legal contact and residence arrangements' on page 1. When you read the notes for guidance on the reverse, they link this to EYFS - surprise, surprise. I would have thought that all existing contracts would still be okay until you review them - but you know how fickle these local authorities can be . I would ring them next week and find out what they advise - I agree, it would be bloody expensive to rewrite all contracts using ncma forms .

Thanks underpaid I think I will ring them, after all they wrote the bloody letter and should be able to advise me...also while you are there, in my blurb about my setting I make a point of telling my parents that I take the children out on trips and have them see my business insurance policy.. BUT do you know if I need a separete permission slip to be signed by all parents or is the contract good enough in itself..
sorry to be a pain but if parents are gonna have to sign more stuff I might as well get it over all in one go...

I have a permission for outings & another for using transport in with my permission forms. The transport one covers cars, buses, trains etc. The outings one covers regular trips like toddler groups, school run plus the extra 'fun' ones in the holidays etc.

If you use the ncma permission slips - you can download/ print them free of charge - you are covered for 'routine' trips ie park, playgroups, library etc. I have a separate one I use for trips further afield and I do one of these each time we have a special outing - it details where we are going, times, etc. My parents just sign whatever I put in front of them now - I have so many things for them to sign that they are losing the will to live as much as I am . If you want to email me from details on my profile, I'll send you a list of what I ask parents to sign. Haven't got one for 'in case of nuclear attack' yet, but am sure it'll be a requirement before we know it

... not sure how to tell you this ... but my network have already told me that I need a written policy on what I would do in the event of a terrorist attack, so you probably already need something signed to cover that!!

thebody · 10/04/2009 20:22

thanks underpaid I will do that and also down load those slips, prisoner you do know that SHOSHIE is on an army camp and she has a nuclear attack policy. lol.I think my one on terrorist attack would be to run like hell.. seriously though its getting ridiculous isnt it.
My dh was in London during the 7/7 attacks and all the mobile networks went down anyway so if, God forbid, you were involved in one with mindees in tow you couldnt possibly write down a proceedure to cover what you could or would do.. you do what the police tell you to do and thats that.

OMG - was only joking . Have to say, inspector didn't ask for copy of that policy last week, so am probably off the hook for next 3 yrs - if am still doing this in 3 yrs time

ThePrisoner · 12/04/2009 17:36

Yes, thebody, I do know that Shoshe is on an army camp - we had a discussion before about why it might be important to have a terrorist attack policy in those circumstances.

However, I live in a nice, market town and the closest I will come to a terrorist attack is the one started by my minded children on me.
