Basically, I have just seen a job advertised for a nursery nurse, ideal hours, age group i'd prefer to work with and everything.

I rang up and they said that they are willing to consider someone who has no qualifications but is willing to train which I am.

I have been trying to find a nursery willing to train me for ages and I so want this job.

Trouble is, I also don't have any recent relevent experience and so I need to really do a bit of research. They are sending my out an application form today and I need to fill that form in well enough to get me an interview.

Is there anything I can read up on to make myself a bit more knowlegable about everything ??

EYFS

Think about risk assessments, reflective practice & observing children

I think just knowing about these things would help a lot

Thanks Katy.

I have to go to the library tommorow, so I will have a look then.

Is there any websites that have info on those things ?

The lady sounded very positive about hiring someone that wanted to train, so I just need me to be that person lol.

I think you will need to google

There are loads of sites - it's a matter of getting one that you understand - it's all a matter of taste

Thanks, have had a google and bookmarked a few sites to read later when the kids are quiet.

Will probably be back for more advice when the form comes.

The pay in nurseries for trainees can be very low.
Which country is the nursery in? Reading about EYFS will help if it is in England.

It is minimum wage but that is fine, I have no problem with that.

The nursery is in England, in Staffordshire.

Thanks for the links, I will add them to my reading pile for tonight.

no advice as i dont know much about nurserys - but the fact that you said to them that you werent qualified/exp and wanted to train and they are still sending you an application form MUST mean that they are interested

good luck

Good luck, I can only assume that if you come across as eager to work with children as you do on your messages here that they'll be very impressed. Just be yourself, don't try to talk about things you know very little about.
