From Sept our nanny share needs to be re-negotiated as the other family's situation is changing. We currently use her alternate times but would need to share part of the hours. It's looking v v complex.

We currently use a nursery for DD2 - the nanny is after school only. The nursery and the nanny together is costing us £1800 a month. Do you think there is any chance I could get a live out nanny (full time) for this price? I would consider someone with nursery experience or recently qualified as I am usually home a couple of days per week anyway. If not live out, what about live in? We are outer London, on a good tube line.

omg...although i dont know, i should hope you could have FT nanny for that £- my friend is (post-grad level) registered staff nurse who is in charge of a neuro ward for

i'm sure others will be along but would have thought full time live out in outer London (including tax NI etc) would be more than this for a qualified experienced nanny certainly. We paid £360 net a week for 4 day week which worked out to over £2000 a month. However a recently qualified nanny may well be cheaper. Live in-you could certainly get someone for that much I am sure-not that i have any experience of a live-in. Not sure how old your DD2 is but au-pair plus nursery might be an option as you are at home a couple of days/week anyway?

DD2 will be over a year. I was thinking of reactivating the au pair-nursery idea.

I do mean gross by the way. It could well be a pipe dream.

Yes, it's possible I think - especially if you go for a newly qualified nanny, someone moving out of a nursery or maybe someone who has a year or two au pair experience. £300 net a week would cost you around £1820 a month according to the nannytax website calculator.

Yes absoultely def you can I am a senior nurse and take home £1500 a month after tax and NI and work a 40hr week.

I could prob earn more as a nanny but love my job and nursing is def a job to do for love not for money.

(newly qualified nurses only earn £16k a year and many will go into nannying as can earn more)

I should think you would be looking to pay £250-£350 net depending on nannies qualifications and experience, the hours you require, whether nanny has own child she brings to work. etc etc

This is good to know. I might as well test the market and see what shakes out.

I think it is doable for a live in. Live out will probably stretch your budget too far when you account for all the extras you will pqy for, live spending money for month, travel costs, food, etc.
