How much to pay a sitter for an evening out?

We are planning a night out and a qualified woman from my daughter's nursery is going to watch her for the evening. My daughter is 7 mos old... how much do we pay? We live in the Finchley area.

Ask her directly to avoid problems later. Our nursery girls fab and charge a paltry £5/hour but we always pay them more and we not London. Every other sitter we've paid from elsewhere ranges between £6 and £10/hour, so there's quite a range.

Thanks, that's probably the best way to handle it!

Babysitters really vary even those that are qualified and experience and its what you as a parent are happy to pay and what the sitter is happy to charge.

I charge £10 an hr with min of £30 some parents are more than happy to pay this others not so they go elsewhere.

agree ask what they want

i charge £10ph and have min of 4hrs - i get plenty of work so guess not too high for my area

I am a childminder offering overnight care, I charge just £3 an which means you could have a full night out, and a lie in in the morning before picking little one up, and it may well cost you less than a babysitter.

wow ! £3 an hour !

I'm in east london and I also charge £10ph as a rule but I sometimes drop a bit for someone local if their children are already in bed and v. unlikely to wake. I have also been paid a lot more on some occasions and basically have enough work to work whenever I want/need to. But I totally agree it depends on what the parents are happy or can afford to pay and certainly the location. For those who choose to pay less there are some very cheap babysitters around but often without references, quals. regular CRB checks, first aid, insurance etc. often gained at the babysitter's/childcarer's own expense.

I charge £7 per hour , I am CRB check , NVQ 3 qualified ( work in a playgroup ) and first aid trained.

As the lady first .

sorry 'ask' the lady first
