Writing a Contract

My childminder would like me to write a contract but i have no clue what to put in it. this is her 1st child since she's been registered and i'm not sure if she really knows either. I think i need to say something about allowing her to take my daughter to the doctors but i'm not sure what else to include.

any ideas or a pointer on where to find the info would be great.

Thanks.

She can buy them from NCMA - which is much easier

She should have been trained on this on her ICP course

As a self employed person it is her responsibility

Surely as the CM it's up to her to write the contract and for you as the parent to make suggestions/additions as you see fit.

Alternatively just write up a contract where you don't have to pay if your DC is sick or on holiday and she needs to give 6 months notice and you 2 weeks

I think she would get rather good at contract writing after that.

That was quick. Thanks.

I think on her course they told her that it was a parents job to include the info about permission for things in contract so i wasn't sure. She is a friend of mine aswell so it makes it a bit easier.

TBH I wouldn't be sure of the validity of a contract written by a parent.....it's a kinda conflict of interests iyswim

If she can't cope with sorting out the contract how is she going to run a business? Are you going to do that for her too?

you agree the terms of the contract with your cm - fees, hour, holidays etc -but it's her responsibility to formalise it and write the contract out. as mentioned earlier, ncma sell contracts which just need to be filled in. it's all part of the job of a cm - infact filling the contract in is the easy part

Well I think she has asked me as a favour and i don't doubt her buisness skills what so ever or i would not send my daughter to her. I asked for some info on contracts not whos job it was.

Buy them from NCMA

Generally you get your contracts from where you buy your public liability insurance

Very few (I know of none - locally to me & I am a mentor) write their own - contracts need to have legal standing and be unambiguous

I don't think you mean a "contract" your postings suggests it is a permission form ie suncream application, transportation in a car, observations, emergency medical attention etc. Most of these forms can be downloaded from ncmas website FOC.
