just sorting my new nanny's payroll but am a bit confused about how to arrange for payment by childcare voucher (she is ofsted registered and has a number). Do I need to get public liability insurance or does she? if its me, any recommendations for good policy providers.

Your nanny needs insurance - it is a condition of their Ofsted registration, so they should already have it.

As employer, your household insurance will typically cover for a domestic employee. Check your home contents insurance policy for details.

For childcare vouchers, your nanny needs to complete some paperwork with the voucher company who issues your vouchers. Contact the voucher company for the appropriate paperwork... some companies have the paperwork on their website for childcarers to download.

thanks nannynick - have checked our household policy and we've chatted about the paperwork which I think comes through when I get my first paycheck (she seems more knowledgeable than me about it).

Some of the voucher companies you can do it all online - I did for Care4 and I registered with Accor online (as a nanny) and faxed my Ofsted registration certificate and then received account details in the post.
