DH has important work do and i need to come along. It will be on a sat eve.
My neighbours have offered to look after the LO if i need to go to the GP, or down the shops etc and i havent said yes yet.
I will next week as a test-run and then im also thinking about giving DS to them one evening when we are home, just to see if/how they cope, before D-day (DH work-do)

How much should I pay them for the evening test-run?
and for the actual babysitting (DH work do)?

They have a 1 yo and DS is 5 months.

is there any particular issues i need to think about before doing that?

Thanks!!

Well in that situation if I was your neighbour, I would have offered in the expectation that you would reciprocate rather than pay me. Have they actually asked to be paid?

My neighbour regularly offers to babysit as a favour, during day and at night, and refuses pay.

Going rate for teenager is £4 or £5 round here - I should offer that and see what your neighbour says. They may be embarrassed/afronted so get your next sentence ready (did't want to abuse your good will etc etc)

I buy my neighbour flowers or plant for the garden from time to time by way of thanks.

Sometimes I think it would be easier if I paid as it would make it easier to ask in the first place...

I bought my neighbour flowers when she babysat for me. And then returned the favour at a later date.
