Nanny / child care etc for wedding

Can anyone help me? A friend and I are looking for childcare for a wedding we're going to in August. My DS will by 2yrs 2mo and hers will be about 10mo. It will need to cover dinner time / bed time and on to early hours. Wedding is at a retreat centre in West Sussex. We'll all be staying in a cottage in the grounds.

Bride and groom have slightly weird ideas about what constitutes child care (inc. asking an 11 year old - GAH!) so we're sorting it out.

Does anyone know of any good agencies / orgs / individuals who offer this sort of service.

Would be immensely grateful for any advice!

Sorry to crash thread but will look at any advice offered too!

My friend's wedding had lots of children around, in a hotel nowhere near anyones' usual childcare, so she sorted out 2 nannies from a company called Event Nannies I think. They were fab and looked after all the children in the evening.

Alternatively, the hotel or centre should know local babysitters - I've just spent a weekend at Rick Stein's hotel and used one of their recommended babysitters who was lovely.

Hi, try giving local nanny agencies in the area you are staying a call, I do this kind of work quite often and it comes through an agency I am with, not sure if mini-tots cover west sussex but she might do. Or try tinies they cover all of England and may have some nannies on their books who also baby sit

Hi there both of you - my new job will mean I have free time over the 6 weeks holiday, ie I should in theory not be working end of july/august so I'd be interested in speaking with you both!
I'm based in London but maybe we could work something out, I have tempted for several MNters too - if you would be able to email me on [email protected], we can discuss things further and I can send you my CV and refs etc.
Look forward to hearing from you both!

I am in east midlands and a qualified childrens nurse I have nannied/babysat at weddings for individual families who have been attending the wedding from 3wk old twins (2pm-3am!!) and toddlers in hotel rooms all works fine.

You may be able to find someone through advertising on gumtree or nanny job, just make sure you do all the checks before hand.

I love nannying for families attending weddings as everyone is in such high spritis and its a lovely atmosphere.

blondeshavemorefun is based near west sussex if I am correct and may be able to help sure she will come and reply at some point.

I've always had babysitters from the company "sitters" come to the hotel and they have been excellent each and every time

scrappydappydoo · 23/03/2009 20:48

Oh Can I hijack this thread and ask how you do childcare at weddings if you are looking after children from different families at night - do you just check on them or do you have them all in the same room - I'm trying to figure out arrangements for a wedding in Aug

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/03/2009 21:02

tbh the weddings i have done if go into the night, have been with a friend and we have 2 ajoining rooms at the hotel if 6 children or so - that way IF we did need to get a parent, one would stay in the room and be able to keep an eye on all children

most weddings have been daytime affairs and we would go there about 2pm in time for the meal/speeches and have a seperate room/tent place depending, and have toys in there for the children and food brought either by parents if young babies or supplied by wedding caters

hth

I've used Sitters.co.uk before. They have always been fantastic.

GinaT · 20/04/2009 20:37

Hi all, myself and a friend (both nannies with over 35 years experience between us in nannying ) are about to set up a company that provides childcare for events of any kind, in short, a "mobile crèche" If you are still interested please do get in touch, [email protected]. Kind regards Gina
