Dear Parent

My name is Angie. I have lots of experience working with babies/children and have recently moved to St Albans from Middlesex and that is why I have had to give up my position as a 'mother's help' for a lovely family, reference available. My own son (12 years old) goes to one of St Albans's best schools and I would very much like to help you in looking after your lovely children.

I am a non-smoker, have clean driving license and can drive. I speak fluent english, am well educated and am available at short notice. I have also worked for a reputable school as a School Governor and have organised and been involved in many fun activities for the children. Reference from the school headmistress is available. I am looking for a live out position and would love to help your family with bringing care and a happy environment for your children.

If you are interested please kindly contact me on 07766881403 or at [email protected].

Thanks
Angie

'would love to help your family with bringing care and a happy environment for your children'

Oh, I do wish you were closer to SW19. I'm looking for a mother's help. You sound perfect!

Best of luck in finding a position.

JenniPenni · 20/03/2009 13:17

HeyThereGeorgieGirl I am in SW19 (a CM), if I hear of any mother's helps I will contact you!

Sfendona · 20/03/2009 13:53

Genuine question:

Why do you have to write 'British Mother'? 'British speaking' maybe...But 'British'? Does it make difference?

JenniPenni · 21/03/2009 09:53

It'd like me saying, 'Hi, I am a South Sfrican childminder...' on my childminding website - tells a bit more about me. Nothing wrong with saying who you are in my view

catepilarr · 21/03/2009 10:20

british speaking??

Why not "British" if that's what she is? I see loads of ads by nannies describing their nationality - Australian, French, Polish etc.

It is not the same as saying 'i am Australian, Polish etc'

As far as i know it is illigal to advertise for a 'British Nanny' (but you can ad for an 'English Speaking nanny'.

So why the nanny should ad herself as 'British'? It can be taken in a wrong way (that this is a strong point to get clients)

NiftyNanny · 21/03/2009 11:57

But she is not placing an advert. She is describing herself. If you fill in a form you are frequently asked to describe your ethnic background and I personally would put "White British" - that describes me, it's neutral and accurate.

I don't see anything wrong with this, it's been raised here before... I think it is fair enough because it means that English is her first language, she has grown up in Britain and knows the culture, it is just a descriptive word in my eyes.

willowthewispa · 21/03/2009 11:58

Why is that not the same as saying Australian nanny or Polish nanny though?

willowthewispa · 21/03/2009 11:59

NiftyNanny - agree with that, and also makes clear she has a legal right to work here, no visa issues etc.

JenniPenni · 21/03/2009 12:12

I really think we read too much into things. She is just describing who she is

ruddynorah · 21/03/2009 12:16

british doesn't mean english is your first language nor that you grew up in britain.
