i've name changed here, and am going to be as vague as possible, not sure if mum is on here or not, but i'm not sure what to do.

i was changing a childs nappy earlier in the weeek and found a large bruse so i recorded it on the right documentation and had parent sign it, mum has just spoken to me about the wording i have used on the documentation and has asked if i would change it. i explained to her the words i have used are descriptive words, and i'm not accusing her of anything, but she still wants me to change it.

do i/ can i change it?

Change it and write 'wording changed at parent's request' to clarify the change.

What does she want you to change it to? If it's something like "yellow-green 2cm wide bruise on upper right thigh" changed to "mark on right leg" then that's really a bit off. But if it doesn't change the meaning and level of description of what you've written then that's a little strange but I agree with BALD (lol sorry at acronym!) just make a note of why you changed it to cover yourself.

she wants me to change it from, large bruse, approx the size of my fist on lower left leg below knee to mark on lower left leg.

i'll put a note on the origional and put the origional in his folder to avoid any arguments i think.

Perhaps she feels the fist reference implies deliberate harm... could you not go for centimetre measurement instead?

squirrel42 · 19/03/2009 07:54

I'd agree maybe it is the fist reference that's put her on edge a bit, but she's a bit unreasonable expecting you to change it to just "mark" - that could mean anything!
