Temp nanny

Hi all,

We may need a temp live-in/out nanny for about 6 weeks in June/July as there may be a blank space before our live-in nanny begins. I go back to work on the 15th June and the other nanny will begin around the 27th July.

How best to find a temp nanny and how do you work out the tax bit or is it acceptable for me to pay her a set amount in cash? I just thought the tax bit will get quite complicated as it's for only 6 weeks?

Thanks,
RLW

If self employed, as I was in this situation, then the nanny does her own tax. I was paid per contract on a weekly or monthly basis.

Try all the usual boards such as nanny job or great au pair (some nannies on there) or maybe Gumtree.

Where are you - should be easy if in or near London.

i worked as a temp/mn nanny for 8months and I did the tax bit myself

i would place ads on nannyjob, netmums and gumtree and if no response that you may have to use an agency (i worked for two) and they often have perm temps - but obv you will need to pay a fee

what area are you in?

also there will be lots of students finishing uni for the summer at the end of may who may be suitable and have childcare experience or doing child related degrees.

Thanks for your tips - I am trying to avoid the agencies as it's only for 6 weeks and the agency fees are relatively large!

I'm in London, NW4, close to Hendon tube, train and brent cross shopping centre.

It would be great if the person was self employed if not i need lots of tax help!

How old are your children RLW?

RLW · 18/03/2009 23:10

My dd will be 1 and my ds nearly 4. DS attends nursery from 9am to 3:30pm so ideally will be dropped off and picked up. Driver not necessary as long as you're open to walking them both. We use a buggy board when he gets tired as it takes about 25mins to walk - only 5 mins by car!

If anyone is interested and is even available for occassional babysitting from now on, please let me know :-)

Thank you.

Hi RLW,
I am an experienced au-pair from the Czech rep. and just trying to organize about a month stay in London in the summer. If you are still looking for someone, let me know at [email protected] and we can talk more I might also ask around my friends (also ex-aupairs) if they could be interested.
