Shiftwork and childcare

Hi All,

I am going back to work very soon, but mornings only. My partner does shiftwork so some mornings he would be at home and we wouldn't need childcare (about quarter of the time). Grateful for any advice - do you think it might be better for my dd to go to the childminder every morning (whether or not hubby is home) so that she has a routine - any opinions? Thanks :-)

Hiya
I would keep her in the childcare even when your partner is at home. It would be too un settling for her. Also you would still have to pay for the childcare for the time when she would stay at home with dad.
Hope that helps
Emma

I would charge you for all the mornings you work, whether you needed me or not. It would be very unlikely that I could find someone else on shifts to share the space with you. I agree with emma - keep the routine going. Your partner can always do the occasional morning if he wanted to.

Same as HSM, being limited in the numbers of places I have, I would have no option but to charge the full place as I wouldn't be able to fill the other shifts unless you job shared or suchlike, but highly unlikely - that said there are CM who will happily do this, I know of several, you need to shop around.
