I love my nanny, childminder, AND nursery!

...just thought I would spread the love and give some props, because a lot of people seem to think any or all forms of childcare are awful.

Of course it's always the horrible stories that get press, but I really do have nothing but good things to say about the people looking after my children. And with 2 small DCs close together and a part time job I actually do use all 3! (no family in this country either)

Sounds smug I know, but wait: I know that I have been lucky to find good people, but I have also put in a lot of effort to find them, and to cultivate a good relationship with each once I got them. I've also paid up - because after all it's more important than a holiday or fab new shoes, isn't it? ----

So, all you fab nannies, childminders, and nursery workers, thank you. You make our children happy because of the care you give them.

I love my dd's nursery. They really care for my dd and play an active role in her development.

I have nothing but praise for the staff who have made each day that she's spent there special.

Good thread Vino.

I too love our fabulous CM. She is in fact so wonderful that I voluntarily tried to persuade her to up her rates as I was concerned they hadn't gone up since DS started with her over 2 years ago. ( She refused because thats what the other CMs charge per hour). But I would happily pay more as I'm delighted that DS has consistency of care with a dedicated professional. I also get remarks from the other Mums when she is out and about with DS and her other mindees about how lovely she is with them and how they get cuddles and care from her.

Our childminder is the most loving, caring, wonderful, creative, child friendly soul you could ever meet.

our nursery is respectful and nurturing towards the children and both nursery and childminder add so much to our dc's lives.

They both make our children feel lovable, part of a wider family/ community and their skills (I use the term lightly! )are taken an interest in and nurtured.

I heart them

Vino I was considering starting a very similar thread. However I will join yours.

I love dd2's cm. She has been with her for a few weeks (the previous arrangement didn't work, I won't talk about that as this is a very positive thread)

Anyway, the cm is very very kind. She has really got to know my 18 month old baby.

Also my dd1's wraparound club - the staff there are very kind too.

It is so lovely to be able to be confident in whatever form of childcare you are using.

Oh, did I mention I love the cm?

I love my sons after school / holiday club ( as does he ! lol)

he loves going there, the staff are fab
they treat the children with respect and allow them to make decisions on activities / days out etc

It's fab for him as they do lots of sport / outdoor activities which he loves ( typical boy with lots of excess energy!)

he has been going since he was 4.5 yrs ( he will be 7 in april)

it's been the same price all that time !only after easter will they be putting up their prices

dd2's nursery is just fab. dd1 started going 4 years ago, she's now at school and dd2 has replaced her.

The staff have hardly changed during that time, some of them have become friends, some babysit for us. I will cry buckets when dd2 leaves, I love the place.

I adore my sons nursery, my oldes had childminders and nursery and although I didn't have a huge problem with either I was never entirely confortable.

I struggled to find a local nursery for my youngest as I needed one with a 730 start so my husband could drop him off. I ended up having to put him in one in a rough area. It's a neighbourhood nursery meaning the employees were from the local area (I had known a lot of them in my youth and lets just say I was no angel back then). I had major resevations so put his name down for a different one and started him there. 1 year later and I can honestly say I am going to be heartbroken to send him to school. It's such a lovely enviroment, when I talk to the staff they actually know my child and his habits, likes and dislikes. The place itself is openplan and has a lovely atmosphere. Little things like they don't charge for nappies and will actually rinse out and tumble dry my sons clothes make a huge difference. Of course the most important thing is my son loves going there. My nursery is a great example of how childcare should be.
