depends on where you live. We are just outside London and baby sitters charge about £7 an hour.

dmo · 02/03/2009 12:03

depends if you want a 16yr old babysitter or someone older with quifications

I'm a childminder in east anglia and I charge £6 hr babysitting rates for my mindees

mum2twoboyz · 02/03/2009 12:57

thanks for the quick replies!1
we are in the east midlands....

as for age - never even thought - as its first time i wud have left kids with anyone, im worried as it is lol

i guess i wud want sum1 who works in childcare, or knows what they are doing - as 5 yr is ok, but the 3 yr is a bit harder.... so guess that wud put the price up....

its sounds like itll cost more for babysitter than ill earn so will have to think i guess...

thanks

if you are earning nmw as many check out jobs are, then tbh it prob wouldnt be worth your while

bs rates vary on the area and also the age and exp of the person

I charge £10ph and have a min of 4hrs, many others charge £7/8 and some on here charge 5/6

you would need 5hrs worth so you are looking at anything bewteen £25(£5ph) and £50 if you have someone like me a night

mum2twoboyz · 02/03/2009 13:04

thanks blondes - did work out i get about £25 so basically im not gonna earn enough to pay out!!

thank u very much for ur help - now i see y ppl live close to family!!!!!!!!

Do you have maybe a friendly neighbour with a responsible teenage daughter? I think you could pay £20 a night for a teen.

An older childcare worker you'd be paying £5-£6 an hour probably.

I have a lovely babysitter. Early 20's. Surrey. I pay her £20 for an evening. say 7pm-11pm. £30 if home past midnight = rare

I am in the east midlands and am a qualified childrens nurse and charge £10 an hr on weeknights for babysitting with £30 min per session.

There are not many babysitters around in the east midlands other than obv teenagers babysitting for neighbours.

As part of my full time job I run babysitting course for 13yr olds plus and we suggest to them to charge £2.50ish an hr for 13-15yr olds and for the 15-17yrs old around £4ish an hr. oBv depending on what experience they have.

Sounds though you would feel better leaving them with a qualified person and maybe some one who has some experience with children who has learning difficulties.

you are welcome to email me [email protected]

you are obv too far for me as you are in derbyshire and I am in leicestershire so may be worth contacting dibdab78 as she is a teacher and babysits in nottingham and derbyshire and charges £10 an hr also.

nannynick · 02/03/2009 17:49

If you look for Babysitters on FindASitter you can get a feel for local babysitting rates. Some babysitters will have low fees, others will have higher fees - it can often depend on their experience and to an extent their age (teenagers tend to charge less). Based on a 25 mile radius search centred on Derby, range seems to be £3 to £10 per hour. You will need to adjust the search to your local area, but I hope that gives you a rough idea.

mum2twoboyz, as lindseyfox says I cover Derbyshire. I'm available most eves and charge £10. Feel free to contact me if you are interested:

there is no point in the OP working to earn £x and then being out of pocket as paying a bs £10

did you look on nicks link for a sitter near you?
