nanny for a week

is it possible to have a nanny for just one week? my CM has given notice that she is having a weeks holiday in the middle of term and since i work in education i cannot have this time off. I have asked a few other CM if they have space for a week but none do at the moment.

i need to get the week sorted. any other options let me know as i do not have any relatives in this country or friends outside work who could take ds.

Yes, there are temp nannies out there - how much time do you have? You could begin by advertising yourself on gumtree.com, your local netmums and nannyjob.co.uk (or on here), and ask local nanny agencies.

ditto willow

good thing she posted first, saves me typing the same

if you do use internet sites, check refs and that they have first aid/crb etc

sorry am in north herts and it would be live out. i don't want to be paying a lot of money but i have to have ds looked after as i can't have time off and don't want to fake illness for a week.

nannies generally cost more than childmnders - but depends on how many children you have, ie one child at cm will cost less than having a nanny - where 2 at £5 each will obv be more - iykwim

think herts would be about £7/8 an hour so prob looking at £70+ a day for an average 10hr day

Ds is currently with a childminder, childminder is having a holiday mid term so i have to find another arrangment and cannot find any local childminders with vacancies.

have you tried the Family Services? Call them up and they often have CMs who are newly registered or dont want details on the internet.

Also worth advertising on your local netmums site as there may be someone who can help you - just make sure that it is a registered CM!

You can get a temp nanny or a childminder. I have done emergency placements before when I had a vacancy (am a CM). Your best bet is to ring around (CIS), and as mentioned, pop an ad on netmums.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/03/2009 09:21

did you manage to find anyone moocowme?

moocowme · 03/03/2009 20:59

You could try emergencychildcare.co.uk you must be a registered childminder to be on there.

Good luck in your search x
