Mother's help - is this feasible?

Hello

You all gave me some really good advice about night nannies a few weeks ago, however in the end it wasn't needed as DD ended up in hospital with Group B Strep and DH's overseas trip was cancelled. She's now all better and the trips are back on the agenda, increasing in length and frequency so I've got a new idea, but just wanted to advice on the feasability. Initally I'm just looking for someone for 4 weeks or so, for 2 days a week. I'm not sure if such a short posting would be attractive. It could possibly continue depending on DH's travels, DD's sleep patterns and my ability to cope.

I think it would be useful to have mother's help during the day. The kind of job description I have in mind is someone to give feeds/ do changes/ play with DD when needed to give me opportunity to have a nap/ shower/ lunch. Ideally also give me some advice and help in getting into a routine, DD is now 6 weeks. Ideally some light domestic duties, or watch DD while I do domestic duties. Is that a reasonable job description for a mother's help?

In terms of hours I'd be quite happy to have someone 9-3 or 9-5, so it could be attractive to someone with school age children. In an ideal scenario, it would be great to have someone who used to be a naany or similar, but has given up due to having their own children and fancies earning some money. Any ideas how i can find someone? Am I being unrealistic in my expectations? What is the going rate? I'm guessing agencies might not be interested in helping and I need someone quite quickly.

Apologies for garbled message typed one handed with baby resting over shoulder

I know a lady who might be able to help - she currently looks after triplet boys on a thursday and loves working with children.

She lives in Thatcham - is that your side of Reading?

It sounds like a job she would like and is also pretty feasible sounding so Ill send her in your direction if you think she is close enough to you to help - she does have a car!

Lucy

Can you send me a message, I tried to send you one. I'm not really Thatcham side of Reading, I'm north of the river, and traffic through Reading is a complete nightmare. It's more up to her if she wants to do the drive.
