Hello mumsnet.

My first post on mumsnet, although I have been an on-looker for a while.

I am a registered Childminder, had my last Ofsted inspection in 2006 however have not been minding for last 12 months due to other commitments.

But ready to get back into the game.
Obviously I need to inform Ofsted and ensure I have a current First aid certificate but what else do I need, ive heard theres lots of changes.

If any kind minder would give me a list of what i need to have/prepare policy/paperwork wise would be hugely appretiated.

Hi I am a registered childminder who started last Sept. Since then things have changed. You need to get in touch with childrens, schools and family dept of your i believe (under 8's) in my case Herts county council. They may ask you your post code to determine whether there is a demand for childminders in your area.

I am not sure if you will have to go through the system again or whether you can continue where you left off.

I know that you now need to have first etc before you can be regisitered.

Thing have changed since i started so give the dept in your area a call.

I will look out for any further messages you may post.

Regards

MJ

Well I have been told that I can continue, wont need to re-register as i have been paying my annual fee etc, have contacted my local family services and there sending me out some paperwork, but thought with a spare day on my hands I might get started at some paperwork, updatign policies etc.

Thanks

Work on updating policies - browse this section to find message threads about policies, procedures etc. It's come up from time to time, so you should find quite a bit to help.

Also look at message threads about EYFS.
Download the MAY 2008 editions of the Statutory Framework and Practice Guidance.
EYFS - Statutory Framework and Practice Guidance can be located on Teachernet.gov.uk... Teachernet also provides the address/phone number for getting hard copies of these documents sent to you (though your local Family Information Service may be sending you those).

Ofsted Poster - think this is the current one, which they want displayed.

SillyMillysMummy · 24/02/2009 19:12

nannynick, are we supposed to be displaying that?

mumlove · 24/02/2009 19:39

We only have to display our ofsted certificate. Anything else is up to you.

I photocopy the poster that nannynick posted and give it to the parents along with the contract, permission form and child record form etc.

Make sure you get all the new information on the EYFS, risk asscesments and planning.
