I am updating mindee contact details for my car (for in case there is an accident) and wanted to check if I'm right to have just first names on there? What other info do you have on yours? I keep mine in my glove box but wondered if there is a better place for them?

I don't keep any details in my car. I keep them in my handbag to changing bag, which go everywhere with me (I look like a modern day bag lady )

looneytune · 21/02/2009 18:39

I have them in my change bag too but don't always have that with me if a VERY quick trip.

Maybe dates of birth next to each name too? Don't know really, but it might be useful if the unimaginable happened so the emergency services have some idea of the ages they are dealing with?

KatyMac · 21/02/2009 18:56

Month & year maybe

Date itself may have too much detail

MaureenMLove · 21/02/2009 18:58

Surely not? Just a first name and a DOB? I doubt they'd have time before parents were involved to get any more info on them. ( I bow to your better judgement, of course, I'm not in this gang anymore!)

KatyMac · 21/02/2009 18:59

But say the paper gets 'lost'?

Oh it's all too confusing

Shoshe · 21/02/2009 19:02

I keep a 'ID card' for each child, first name, photo, parents emergency details, age. (photo as I had 3 two year old girls)

They are in a sealed bag stuck to the back window of my car, with a sign on the outside which says 'emergency Details on reverse.

That way if I was not capable of giving details emergency services can find them easily.

I have a copy of all cards in my change bag too.

MaureenMLove · 21/02/2009 19:03

Damn, she's good!

Do you have a similar bag round your neck when you go out on the booze, in case you are not capable?

Shoshe · 21/02/2009 19:10

Nah local coppers know me, in fact they gave me a red light taxi home on my hen night

MaureenMLove · 21/02/2009 19:11

Excellent! I wish I could say that I've never been blue lighted all the way home, but that would be a lie!

Shoshe · 21/02/2009 19:13

Well I was a Pub landlady, for two years, and had been a barmaid at the pub for years (great way to meet people as a single mum BTW)so knew all the Coppers.

I keep their details in my changing bag. I have the NCMA registered childminder stickers on my car, so hopefully the emergency services will work out that the 5 kids in the car may not all be mine and have a look for info!

I recently bought little sleaveless waistcoats, which children wear over their clothes, for my under 3's from a company called Darts. They have my name and phone details on the back and the fact that i am a registered childminder. The kids love them, and they are one way i advertise my services, I suppose if I was to have an accident it would alert the police to the fact that I am with children that are not mine. Then in my bag I have a card which says I am a registered childminder and a telephone number to contact in the case of an accident. The number is the mobile of someone who has all the children's details - name, parent contact, and doctors details. Also on my mobile is ICE - (in case emergency ring ........) the police check for this now.

TheIronLady · 22/02/2009 12:05

Similar to Soshe, ID cards, photo, name, parents contact details. I have laminated these little cards, punch holed and wear on a colourful elastic necklace around my neck! No chance of it getting lost and easily seen if I were taken ill or involved in rta.

PAPERFREEK · 22/02/2009 16:38

Love the idea of putting details on laminated cards around your neck - will take that one on board. I always worried about having too much child details in my bag, but round my neck - what a great idea. Thanks.

PAPERFREEK · 22/02/2009 16:42

What a fab idea putting cards round neck. When I go on outings in or out of the area they would be invaluable if I needed to take child to hospital or needed to contact parent. I would put docs details on and any allergies to medication.

looneytune · 22/02/2009 17:01

Loving that idea but not so sure about round my neck, would just be too odd for me. What do you think about a similar idea for putting on keyring so if something happened, they'd see when they got the keys??

OP posts:
PAPERFREEK · 22/02/2009 17:06

I don't always have pockets for keys and would be scared of losing my keys with children's pics on. Especially in local area as whoever picked keys up might know the kids and therefore know where I live, they would then have access to my house if they so desired.

You can buy a silver plated holder - like a tiny tube on a chain from a key cutter, then you put rolled up slips of paper in it. Perhaps you could get one of those?

looneytune · 22/02/2009 19:43

Oh, I meant to attach when in car in case of accident. But that could be a right faff too. I'll have a think

you wear kids details round your neck... thats just one step too far for me ironlady. never gave this a thought, will put details in my car tomorrow though. hANG ON AGAIN, ROUND YOUR NECK, dont you feel a bit self conscious.

kidsrus · 22/02/2009 23:42

what fantastic ideas my laminator will be working over time now.
i borrowed a badge maker from the toy library and the kids enjoyed making their own ice badges for use in my care on outings but i had never thought about the car situation b4.
thanks everyone!

thebody · 23/02/2009 10:44

stop press, have now got all details tatood on my arse, cant wait to show Ofsted..expecting outstanding effot..

PAPERFREEK · 23/02/2009 13:26

Never thought of a tattoo. Great idea except that mine isnt that big, too many children. What would you do when kids leave? Suppose i could write details on my arm at beginning of day then wash off at night, never thought of that. I sometimes write our telephone number on my kids arm when he goes on trips at school. What do you think?
