Bill is very high this year and I can't think what I'm missing?!

I've got all cleaning products, trips out, this year I've gone with charging per meal/snack rather than every bit on shopping receipts (basically like Shoshe does). I must be missing something as my bill can't be that high!!!

yes you can - but it is 20% now, not 25%.
All business can have cars, but if you use them privately you have to deduct a private proportion of everything - fuel, road tax, insurance, capital allowances.
In lots of cases it is better to claim a 40p per mile.

Ahh yes that is right...you chose whether to itemise the vehicle expenses...which works well if it is largely for business use.

If the usage is lower it can be more straightforward to claim a mileage allowace...but it is one or the other right...across the board...car, fuel, tax, maintanance...

yes that's right.
Have sent myself an e-mail to work to check the car CA's position (otherwise I would forget - brain like a sieve).
Will post tomorrow.
