When mindees parents advise the night before attendance, child poorly: cold, cough, making them sick, from coughing. So not attending, then changes mind in the morning, saying they are not too bad..
I am not keen on taking a child who could make me poorly, therefore I will not get pai if I am sick, not that I go sick, I carry on whatever..
I know it's my call, but I'm not sure, I did make oher plans once I heard mindee not coming.
What would you do....

i'm really soft, and i would probably take the child, but at first sign of sickness, i would ring the parents. even if it was when they firt walked throught the door!

I'm a bit of a softee too. You could say - well if they have been sick they should stay off, if your new plans cannot be cancelled. I would probably give in though - and then curse myself all day.

Yes I agree. I know what it's like when coughing makes them sick, rather than a bug, but it's not fair on the little one or me, they need their Mum when not well.

On reflection, I think a chat about exactly how the mindee is, would be the best way forward. Then, based on the actual symptoms, decide from there. I will keep myself available up until the expected arrival time, and only then if def not attending, will I consider making plan for the day ahead. In this instance, mindee just had a bad night, and was fine to attend. It was just a situation that I had not considered before, usually mindees that are poorly the night before, don't come the next day.
Cheers for your input.

I have had a very similar thing happen to me. Mum calls to say LO is unwell. I say ok what a shame we were planning to do xyz today Get well soon etc. Mum calls back half an hour later so say Lo has really perked up and can she come after all. I was a bit unsure but said yes but reminded mum if she went down hill again i would be sending her home. Child was very tearful all morning and by early afternoon had a raging temp. I had no choice but to send home. If this ever happened again I would probably still take the LO unless ofcourse it was d&v. I would however not hestitate to send home if they were not fit enough in my opinion.
