Confused about nanny tax etc

I'm thinking of getting a part time mothers help/nanny for a few months and am a bit confused about the tax situation.
Would I be expected to sort out their tax even if they are only a temp and part time? If they are earning money elsewhere does this mean they are then responsible for sorting out their tax?
If anyone knows I'd be grateful- thanks

Yes, you do need to sort out their tax/NI and depending on number of hours worked, there may be employers NI too.
It is quite a complicated process and lots to find out to make sure you are doing the correct thing !
If they are employed elsewhere already, you would be their secondary employer and so would be paying their tax/NI at a higher rate (basic tax code).
The company I use are great.. taxnanny.co.uk .. give them a call and they will talk you through it for free. If you decide to use a payroll company, you can pay a one off fee and they will do the leg work, calculations, payslpis etc.
Hope that helps !

Do you mind if I ask you how much they charge

My payslips are produced by PAYEforNannies - they charge £115 inc VAT per year.

tvfriend - Yes, No
You need to operate PAYE.
