How much should I pay for a childminder to work from my home to look after a young baby?

A childminder works from their home, if they are looking after your child in your home they would be a nanny.

Depends on where you live re. wages and how many hours a week

A nannies salary varies from area to area, city locations can be higher than countryside. A full-time (around 50 hours per week) live-out nanny could cost between £12,000 and £30,000 depending on area.

Childcare in your own home is expensive, with only one child. Once you have two, three, four children then it is more viable.

A childminder cares for many children at their [the child minders] home. You would take your baby to the childminders home and collect again. The cost can be quite a lot lower - again it will vary by area - typically £3 to £7 per hour.

Your local authority should now be able to supply information about all kinds of childcare services in your area. You can find their contact details on www.childcarelink.gov.uk assuming you are in England... or www.scottishchildcare.gov.uk if in Scotland.
