I get paid £5.50ph. I guess it depends on the babysitter e.g. how old they are, are they qualified in childcare etc.

She is 18, currently studying for her NVQ3.

I would think between £5 and £6 pounds ph.

AngelNanny · 23/01/2009 12:35

I would say between £6 - £7 an hour for that age and studying towards that qualification. Also experience is a key factor in the amount of pay. Ask her what she charges per hour, she will prob have an hourly rate in her head and you can use our feedback as a guideline.

Good Luck

for her age and quals i would say £6 an hr with a min of £20.

Lucy87 · 23/01/2009 13:32

I charge 9 but I am in London

chloejessmeg · 23/01/2009 13:43

Is she is doing level 3, I would assume she already has level 2? Which is more than enough for a babysitter so I would say £6 or so per hour.

I charge £6 per hour and have NVQ 2, registered childminder and several years experience. Wouldn't bother for less than that.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/01/2009 19:04

at 18, i would ask her what she wants and then if over £5/6 say to her your figure

i charge £10 and have min rate of 4hrs (been an exp, qualified sc nanny for 17yrs)

NoseyHelen · 24/01/2009 22:11

She doesn't have any other qualification - she went straight on to her NVQ3 course last September. She doesn't know what to ask me for and I don't want to be tight about it but neither do I want to pay over the odds. I was thinking that I'd pay her £5ph and I'm hoping this would be appropriate.

Thats quite unusual to go straight into ann NVQ3 without doing 2 first, unless you have A levels or something similar. I wanted to go straight to level 3 but couldn't fins anywhere that would do it. I found level 2 too easy so couldn't get into it as much as if I had done 3 straight away. Usually I think it is only if you have your own child or lots of exerience.

techpep · 24/01/2009 23:57

You can go straight to level 3 at some colleges, depends on g.c.s.e results

chloejessmeg · 25/01/2009 00:04

Oh right, must be different areas, I got all A-Cs so must just be our local colleges that don't let you.
