I spoke to tinies and they are telling me its 212Pound for the ICP course.
First Aid 115pound.
EYFS 86pound.
Does this sound about right?and who did you all train with?

MNT do a cheaper ICP course - I think their distance learning common core one is about £140. My first aid course was just a local one, £70. Try St John's Ambulance.

Is SJA recognised by ofsted?

I think Ofsted would recognize any first aid training as long as you do the 12 hour peadiatric course. I did mine with Switch training and it was about £53 I think.

SJA do an Early Years First Aid course. It is 12 hours duration split over 2 days. It is recognised by Ofsted, NCMA, PLA etc. Typically costs £80, price varies by location.
Nannies don't have to do EYFS.
If you have no childcare training then ICP may be better than jurt doing common core. If you have old childcare training and just need update so Ofsted accept it, then common core via distance learning is fine.

On my coffee break, tend to only get one on Thursday.

All sounds rather expensive. Where are you based?

First Aid in my area is £41 via our early years department
EYFS was approx £35 and then we got half of it back if we attended all sessions.
ICP - can't remember, but no where near what you have been advised.

Do your local authority help cms?

NEC do an ICP course as well.

Can you not get funding from your authority? My ICP was free - as a nanny and not a CM too. There was a big drive to get people onto courses....suspect there were some budgetary implications.

Sleeptite wouldn't help you with getting registered. And it's definitely worth spending the money on good, recognised courses, preferably ones which are accredited.

Supernanny19 · 22/01/2009 21:22

How do i find out if they are funded?

I live in the Lake District and all our courses are free. Ive not paid for one since moving into childminding.

But the downside is we are not getting the £300 grant that a lot of LAs are giving out.

frannikin · 23/01/2009 16:41

Call the LEA - that's how I found out, completely by accident.

nannynick · 23/01/2009 18:45

With regard to local councils, if you live near a border then contact neighbouring councils, as they also run courses and may be keen on filling places. I'm in Surrey and did a course last year in Workingham - it wasn't free, but was at a lower cost than getting training direct.

Out of interest - has anyone managed to get any funded courses from Surrey County Council? If so, was it fully funded, or did you have to pay part of the cost?
