But I have got a shed load of OU work done

3 rugs cleaned (this would be the weekend I had booked the carpet cleaner - I know it's nice they are clean for OFSTED but I would rather have doe it next week)

My builder is making me a cupboard again booked before OFSTED were due but I couldn't cancel

Grr

& I feel very rough

It's shit when your Mon to Fri job spills over into weekends isn't it? It will soon be over

Hope you get through it. I am waiting for the Care Commission to phone and come and inspect me but not holding my breath. My ds1 is now 17.5 and he was meant to have his Disclosure done when he turned 16. Has it been done? Has it buggery!!!

KatyMac · 18/01/2009 09:33

Thanks for trying to reassure me

I wish we got no notice at all - after all if we are doing it right we need none

Yes i agree. It's the anticipation that i hate I don't know how my inspection will be this time tho. DS1 is not at school now and works shifts so inspector will be annoyed if he can't be here and she has to come back. He may be able to swap a shift but who knows??

Ach well we'll see eh?

KatyMac · 18/01/2009 10:04

I'm not sure 'anticipation' is the right word - that implies something nice

Hmm yes that's true lol.

My inspector is hard work tbh. Zero conversation skills (ignores my dc and the mindees)zero sense of humour.

My old CCO was lovely and i hate having this new one

KatyMac · 18/01/2009 10:20

I'm getting a lovely one - I know her quite well

I had 1 days notice and that was bad enough.
I think that the way you welcome the inspector sets the tone. My lady was lovely. She said if you've done your set then the whole inspection is smoother and swifter as you've told ofsted the answers to the questions they HAVE to ask.
Can you imagine talking thru your set on the day instead of being able to take your time and research your answers?
I did my sef back in sept and was inspected in dec. She said my sef was really god and a pleasure to read so I was chuffed.

Relax, breathe and you'll do just fine. We all look up to you!

How does this look?

HOW EFFECTIVELY IS THE WELFARE OF THE CHILDREN IN THE EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE PROMOTED

I try to ensure that the children meet their 5 outcomes within the setting. The environment both physical and emotional is good and there is every chance for the children here to thrive. I work closely with their parents and families and hope that we become part of their lives. I am a firm advocate of the child?s needs and will discuss this with parent when necessary, although generally this is unnecessary. Our policies and procedures are good and applied daily.

"I am a firm advocate of the child?s needs and will discuss this with parent when necessary, although generally this is unnecessary"

Slightly at that one - you might want to rephrase a little. I know what you're trying to say (that thankfully it's rarely necessary) but it comes across as you find it unecessary. It's just a style point, probably related to the use of the word unecessary...

NumberFour · 18/01/2009 12:21

KM, were you due for inspection or overdue or early??? I am asking because mine should be due soonish.

How about "The child's needs are of paramount importance and I maintain good relationships with the parents enabling us to easily and openly discuss the child's needs" . I agree with frannikin re the use of the word unnecessary. If parents are the first educators of the child and the most important people in the child's life then surely it is always necessary to discuss their child's needs with them.....

Is this of any use to you? or am i missing the point?

KatyMac · 18/01/2009 12:25

Thank you - That's the sort of advise I need

is
"although this happens rarely"

Better
