Morning all, the little ones in mums house seem to think that 4.30/5am is a brilliant time to get up and it seems to be having a knock on effect - I was in bed at 8pm last night and still done in this am.

Strong coffee, doughnuts, carrot cake and all things unhealthy on the table, see you later

Morning everyone.

Wet here! I think I prefered it being cold but dry. Off to toddler group this morning.

Glad I checked before posting as started to open up but ad hoc mindee arrived 15 mins early at 6.30. Good job I got up at 6.20.

Mums - Thankyou for the lovely goodies

NumberFour · 15/01/2009 07:22

Morning, I have been lurking for a couple of days! Feeling very overwhelmed by EYPS (now I know what Eleanorsmum meant...) and a bit inadequate.

Anyway, two school runs, then toddlers, then drop off son at his childminders (feels a bit odd!) then toddlers sleep, then leave then off I go to class again. Back at about 8.15 so not too bad.

Mumlove, I also prefer cold and dry than mild and soggy!

Mums: 4.30am wake up call? Eeeeeek!!!! good luck.

mumsanutter · 15/01/2009 07:37

I wouldn't mind the wakeup call if he stayed in his bedroom and played, but he decides to come into my room, jump on the bed, turn on the light etc and give rough cuddles to whoever (ie me and ds4) is still asleep in the bed!!!

Don't feel inadequate No4, I find that these courses always do that to us, I was a wreck when I was doing my NVQ.

Morning all - no appetite for the goodies I'm afraid, having to force myself to eat - so far I have lost 8lbs

Wet - yuk

EYPS - you will get a handle on it, the first few weeks is the worst

Early mornings don't exist in this house - DD is approaching being a teenager & then mornings may not exist either

eleanorsmum · 15/01/2009 07:46

No.4 - please try not to feel inadequate, i'm sure the others on your course are bit overwhelmed too! I know there was a few who made me feel very undervalued as a childminder. But you're just as good as them if not better cos you have your home life to juggle too! are there many cm's on your course? if so try and get together with them to brain storm how you are going to achieve the standards. also the friends of mine still on the course are saying try and write down your evidence now as you do a leadership thing rather than wait till assignment time. Make sure you give yourself time to do the course, that was one of my probs - just not enough hours in the day for me!

anyway! sorry that was bit long!

morning everyone else, as many of you know I've been considering giving cming up now dd is full time and i have no real need to be here all day everyday, so i'm applying for a teaching assistant job at her school. hope i get an interview at least!

Have a good day all, try not to eat too much cake

hennipenni · 15/01/2009 09:46

Morninmg all, allso wet here so have decided to stay at home, mindees behaving well and sharing nicely (long may it continue!), we normally go out every morning so think mindees are enjoying staying in!.

After my little wobble yesterday about no mindees after July I had an enquiry yesterday for a full timer- unfortunatly also to finish in July!

crace · 15/01/2009 10:30

Hi everyone - came here via hiding chloes thread. How typical it turned into an anti-c/m thread. Hide Hide Hide

at such early risers! We are up about 6.30 ourselves and that's bad enough.

No 4 - don't feel inadequate, as the others say, no doubt you are feeling overwhelmed. Hang in there.

Heya EM! Good luck with TA job.

Henni,.. sorry to hear that there isn't much work. Hopefully this is a short term problem. I am worrying myself and I keep trying to tell myself it will be alright. So repeat after me..

After school child today, so easy day for me.

mumlove · 15/01/2009 13:17

Afternoon.

It has got sunny and dried up, I wonder how long that will last?

Ad-hoc mindee is a little angel.

NumberFour · 15/01/2009 13:43

Thanks for all the encouragement! I have done some reading over the past couple of days so hopefully I will manage it. And off I go now to do some more while mindees sleep!

I am the only CM in the group and more than half are from private nurseries or private infant schools. Fortunately I will be given a mentor who is or was also a CM.

Thanks for the words of advise, E'smum.

KatyMac · 15/01/2009 14:59

Explain this to me:
I am a good childminder
I got Outstanding last time I was inspected
I have significantly improved since that time

So why when I get that call from OFSTED does my heart beat increase and I get in a little panic

NumberFour · 15/01/2009 15:09

I understand the feeling, KM! I am due for my inspection probably round about June and my heart skips a beat every time the blinking phone rings!!

and oops: words of advice

crace · 15/01/2009 18:17

The power of the "all knowing" Ofsted eh? Strikes fear I think no matter HOW prepared you think you are!

Good day, my after school was very good. Tends to like to eat a lot but he's a growing lad and in reception so no doubt starving after his long day. Tomorrow is a nice filling stodgie jacket potato though! Hope everyone else had a good day

mumlove · 15/01/2009 18:20

I have a new mindee starting 2 days a week. The mum called just as I was leaving for school and is paying a retainer fee for the 9 weeks until baby starts.

KatyMac · 15/01/2009 21:24

I'm crossing i's and dotting t's at the moment

If she had come this afternoon I would have been fine

But it's next week
