Au pair recommendation - Essex/Greater London

Bit of a shot in the dark but thanks to an earlier conversation and great advice I am now seeking an au pair and wondered if anyone has any ideas/recommendations?!

Required for around 25 maximum to include school pick-ups (three days) and some babysitting. Live-in and use of car is available if preferred.

you need to be looking on au pair world or get yourself signed up with an agency.
You could try placing an advert on gumtree as well.

If you are lucky someone may know of someone on here that is looking for AP work.

Happy hunting..

aupairworld.com always gets the most votes on here though people also use easyaupair and newaupair. Opinions on agencies are usually split between those that can't see how they can justify the fees for something you can do quite well yourself (which is where I sit), to those who swear that they take all the hassle out of the situation and give you support if things aren't working.

Gumtree seems to work well if you are in London or another major city but not outside and if you are looking to recruit an au pair already in the UK, this makes interviewing easier but then you might be recruiting an au pair who is looking to leave their current position - why do they want to leave?

Live-in is usual, though again in London there seem to be some who live out. Use of car - well the more attractive you make it, the more applicants you get and the wider the choice you will have.

Good luck.

I use au pair world.
I'm in North-west Essex and some of my AP's friends might be looking for new families - I could ask her for you (they are all live-ins).
Are you London borders (on tube line?) or further out?

Thanks all - yes London borders - tube and train to city is nearby.

I have just had to get a new au pair at incredibly short notice (5 days) as old au pair got very ill and we had to arrange for her to go back to Greece. I usually use AP world but this time I used Gumtree and was delighted with the resuts, I got loads of applicants and was able to meet them rather than do the usual telephone interview. I will definately use Gumtree again.
